alright i know theres gonna be a rush of smart asses or idiots posting after this, but i also know theres always a few out there with some good advice... somehow my moms computer has spyware up the ass on it and she wants me to fix... im downloading spy sweeper on ares right now, but i was wondering if there was ne thing else, or better, that i could be doing to clean/protect this pc....

I never found Ad-aware could find anything Spybot S&D couldnt. I use it anyway.

gremlin you can get ad-aware from www.lavasoft.com (http://www.lavasoft.com) thats what i use

GrtZ I have used it before but all I found it useful for was getting rid of tracking cookies quickly. Spybot: S&D would do this aswell but at the end of a long test. Is there anything Ad-Aware can find S&D can't?

download a program called "Hijackthis" from http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

this program will generate a logfile, you will need to post this logfile on a spyware message board

links to thoes boards are in the link above

the people in the message boards will tell you what you need to do. hijack this can be used to remove spyware/adware that spybot and adaware can't remove or even detect

Thats all you should need.

go to download.com and download something called spywaredoctor....seemed to work for me
