| Network (in)Security Interesting hacks and cracks. Info on firewalls, TCP/IP, encryption, networks, and security. The ins and outs of the phone system, caller services, how things work, what's illegal and what's not, cellular phones, beepers, telephony legislation, the PUC, ISDN, taps, who's listening, and switches. Talking about phones, hacking systems, technical advice, and such is completely LEGAL in the United States -- it's covered by the First Amendment. What's illegal is conspiracy to commit a crime. So if you say something like "Meet me at 2am so we can crack a can" or "I changed my cell phone's number myself" you are criminally liable. Stating "You can crack a can by doing thus-and-so" or "If you wanted to change a cell phone's number, you could do it like so" is perfectly OK. Posting passwords, calling card numbers, or credit card numbers is forbidden on this network. Posting such info will get you booted off the net. |

Computer is being weird
Ok basically I have a 2 week old laser IntelliMouse and sometimes it just shuts off, the red light goes off, and doesn't work for a few seconds, even few minutes, the cursor doesnt move and actually dissapears. Often the cursor just clicks random shit or moves around the screen. I know for sure it's not a manufacturing defect, and not a virus. I updated all the drivers, did all basics like defragment etc.
The keyboard (almost brand new) acts weird too, like it keeps typing letter i only typed in once, etc.
My mouse is dead right now, please help me.
Once again, its not a virus and not manufacturing defect, i dont think.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: Computer is being weird
first off check you're not using your mouse on any kind of reflective surface (a glossy photo mouse pad will drive it insane).
then go into bios and and reset your usb ports and irq.

Re: Computer is being weird
That happens to me when my wireless keyboard and mouse runs out of batteries.
I once had the BigMac virus on a laptop of mine, it would make the mouse go crazy and do some weird shit to the keyboard and mice

Re: Computer is being weird
murder/suicide?
umm, if it is a laser mouse, reflective surfaces don't make a difference. If its an optical then they do.
if its not wireless check the connection at your case and where it goes in the mouse. If its wireless, did you let it charge in its charger thingy before you used it?
