Network (in)Security Interesting hacks and cracks. Info on firewalls, TCP/IP, encryption, networks, and security. The ins and outs of the phone system, caller services, how things work, what's illegal and what's not, cellular phones, beepers, telephony legislation, the PUC, ISDN, taps, who's listening, and switches. Talking about phones, hacking systems, technical advice, and such is completely LEGAL in the United States -- it's covered by the First Amendment. What's illegal is conspiracy to commit a crime. So if you say something like "Meet me at 2am so we can crack a can" or "I changed my cell phone's number myself" you are criminally liable. Stating "You can crack a can by doing thus-and-so" or "If you wanted to change a cell phone's number, you could do it like so" is perfectly OK. Posting passwords, calling card numbers, or credit card numbers is forbidden on this network. Posting such info will get you booted off the net.

Okay, first off, the definition of a worm is as follows:

A program or algorithm that replicates itself over a computer network and usually performs malicious actions, such as using up the computer's resources and possibly shutting the system down.

Okay, so you want to play around with a web server. Even if somebody were to send you a 'worm' you could infect a web server with, it probably wouldn't do much to the server itself unless it was configured to shut the server down, in which case it wouldnt be much of a worm in general, because if the computer is off the worm cannot spread. What you want is a virus, which is defined as:

A program or piece of code that is loaded onto your computer without your knowledge and runs against your wishes. Viruses can also replicate themselves. All computer viruses are manmade. A simple virus that can make a copy of itself over and over again is relatively easy to produce. Even such a simple virus is dangerous because it will quickly use all available memory and bring the system to a halt.

Okay, now, say somebody sent you a virus (to put on the web server, of course). To do any damage whatsoever to the web server, you would need to be able to put it onto the server for it to do anything. Not to put you down or anything, but from your original post and last post, i dont believe that you have the skills required to do this. I am not going to call you a 'n00b' or say 'just f**king google it' or anything of the sort, because we all were at your level of expertise at some point in time. Im sorry to say it, but you are sort of out of your league at this point in time. My suggestion to you would be to hand aroudn the forums for a while, maybe pick up some books about how different operating systems work, things of that nature.

So you want someone to just give you a step-by-step guide for what you want to do specifically?

Heres a start,

1. Turn off computer

2. Disconnect all connections

3. Throw computer out window

4. Throw self out window

So do some learning then www.google.com (http://www.google.com)

hahahahaha

20 years ago 'hacking' this would have worked.

if the fbi can get infected by it and not know where it comes from surely.

but now you have no method of entry, a half decent web server administrator wouldnt dare let anything on it and a newbie admin would jump the gun and overprotect it.

if you cant figure out how to make a virus you certainly arent smart enough to be learning programming.

basically all you have to do is copy some other worms code to spread itself, edit it around a bit to disassociated yourself from it in the eyes of antivirus.

virus - worm same thing in my opinion. well virus goes a bit further and damages.

virus writers are sucking nowadays. like msblast. COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH MORE!!.

imagine they made it mutate, and they made it cause some serious computerly damage!

how long was it a month and almost every single person with xp got their computer infected.

what type of passwords?

if you dont have a fast computer rainbow tables are a good solution. rainbowtables.com and some other site i cant remember, look for the passed thread on them by me.

john the ripper is a good free one and LC5 is probably the best one.

there are no good worms, all of them will be detected by antivirus. making one is your best bet.
