Network (in)Security Interesting hacks and cracks. Info on firewalls, TCP/IP, encryption, networks, and security. The ins and outs of the phone system, caller services, how things work, what's illegal and what's not, cellular phones, beepers, telephony legislation, the PUC, ISDN, taps, who's listening, and switches. Talking about phones, hacking systems, technical advice, and such is completely LEGAL in the United States -- it's covered by the First Amendment. What's illegal is conspiracy to commit a crime. So if you say something like "Meet me at 2am so we can crack a can" or "I changed my cell phone's number myself" you are criminally liable. Stating "You can crack a can by doing thus-and-so" or "If you wanted to change a cell phone's number, you could do it like so" is perfectly OK. Posting passwords, calling card numbers, or credit card numbers is forbidden on this network. Posting such info will get you booted off the net.

if you're planning to install win 98/Me/2k or xp then all you need to do is shove the cd in and boot.

it'll then give you the options to format etc.

^^^ i haven't got a fucking clue what that lot meant but..

to format you don't need Fdisk UNLESS your drive is unpartitioned.

if thats the case then Fdisk then say yes to large disk support if it asks you.

then click on option 4 (i think) to display current parititions (just to check). it'll show you your drive and how many mb and any partitions on there.

assuming its clean then go back to the main menu and click option 1 (again i think -can't be arsed to check) which is create primary partition. click yes all the way through to create one partition using the whole disk. or enter the sizes for the partitions you desire.

reboot.

then go into DOS again again and Format C:/u/s

but again a windows install disk will do all this for you so i don't see the problem (no idea what the fuck 'opening to icons' is.

The 2k/XP/2k3 install includes a step to format your drive.

Moving to T&T.
