It's a well-known problem, people on the same LAN play with eachother in the same battlenet game in starcraft. Blizzard has always denied the requests for a fix. Does anyone know any work-arounds? Starcraft was such a popular LAN-party game for so long, I can't imagine there not being a way for the savy person to get his game on with his roommate.

There is no work around i believe,C&C Tiberian Sun has the same problem and my friend told me that older games like that dont support 2 of the same ip's playing online on a home network.Could be the same shit with Starcraft.

Otherwise can't you just install the IPX protocol and play 1v1 like that? I dunno, maybe crossover cabled or something? I've never tried it.

I'm not sure how well IPX fared, it might not even work with XP.

Um, what? That's no good if you're already on a private network with a single external IP.

To the OP: I'm entirely uncertain as to whether you could get the whole deal running on a proxy, but if you can, that would solve your problem.

I dont know much about proxys, but could you connect through proxys and play like that?
