The idea just hit me, due the the fact the earth NEVER sees the other side of the moon. Isn't it possible the USA or anything else already has a base up there?

Why don't we hear more about the moon, why is it all about Mars now.

What if the "moonraker" James Bond is underway?

Just interested to hear what people think about this possible Conspiracy.

Personally, it strikes me a bit odd as to why the moon acts this way, there has to be some reason. Do other moons of other planets act the same way?

I believe what lies on the moon could be an alien base.

although there is a dark side to the moon.

from different places on earth you will see this as the light side of the moon, so there is not a side of the moon that we do not see from somewhere on earth.

explanation

imagine having 2 coins,1 large to represent the earth and 1 small to represent the moon.

put a mark on the edge of the small coin...to represent the face of the moon that you see.

now do not rotate this coin keep it in exactly the same position,...but move this coin around the larger coin. as the moon travells AROUND THE EARTH once every 24 hours...and the earth also rotates once every 24 hours ......coincidence or what???

what you will notice is that as the moon coin gets half way round the earth coin, the mark you made on the coin......ie the face of the moon that you see will now be facing away from the earth .....ie for someone on the other side of the planet....the face of the moon that you ALWAYS SEE will now be the dark side of the moon...

so in reality, although there is a dark side of the moon, the whole of the moon is visible if you look at the moon from different locations on the earth.

You are wrong. I don't know which part to correct first. First of all, the moon DOES rotate as it orbits the earth. It just so happens that the moon rotates exactly once for each trip around the earth, so that the same side of the moon always faces the earth. No one, no matter where on earth they are observing from, no one ever sees the other side of the moon!

Secondly, you say that the moon travels around the earth every 24 hours. I don't think this is true. I don't know for sure how long it takes for the moon to make a complete orbit, but if it were 24 hours, and it travels in the same direction as the earth rotates, the moon would always be directly above the same location on earth all the time! This is obviously not the case.

You are full of shit... only 1 portion of the moon is visible to the ENTIRE planet... the otherside is completely dark and is not seen by the earth... you dumb fucker...

All that tells us is exactly what we are saying... there is only 1 part of the moon that is visible from earth and it stays that way FOR FUCKING EVER! You dumb ass... you just confirmed what we said when we corrected you!

What?? I clicked on the link, and it says almost exactly what I said. I did make one mistake in my original post. I said that the moon rotates once every 24 hours. What I meant was, it rotates once for each time it travels around the earth. In your post you said that the moon doesn't rotate at all. Click on the link that you posted and read it more carefully.

I will say this one more time. Observers on earth can only see one side of the moon. You would have to travel into space to see the other side of the moon.

The point of this thread was to discuss what could be happening on the side of the moon that is not visible from earth. There could be a space station or a city or about anything on the other side of the moon. As long as it was kept secret, no one on earth would ever know!

Exactly! Well, almost. You are right in saying that only one portion of the moon is visible from earth.

The other side is sometimes called the 'dark' side of the moon, but it is not always dark. When we see a full moon, the other side is completely dark. When we see for example, a crescent moon or no moon at all, the sun is shining on the other side of the moon, therefore the other side is only dark during a full moon.

If you click on the link that eBlip posted, you will find an explanation of why the rotational period exactly matches the orbital period.

Yes they took pictures... but not normal color photos... because there is nothing to light that side up.

What are you talking about? Are you saying that the sun always shines on the same side of the moon? You're wrong.

They did but have you seen them do it recently?

And if they gave you a photo and said, "This is a photo of the other side of the moon." How would you know it actully was?

In the end, there is only ONE way to know what is happening on the other side of the moon, by getting in a space craft and viewing it for your self from the otherside.

No the moon isn't always dark on the other side of the moon, if the moon in in between the earth and the sun, then the other side would be light.

The only explantion that I can think of as to why the same face always points to the earth is the earth's electromagntic field, and the moon some how follows that while it orbits.

I think it's a weird coincidence that there is NO WAY of seeing the other side of the moon from earth. If you wanted a base in space that was hidden from the people of earth, that would be the PERFECT place for it.

Why dont' people care about these sorts of questions? they are too busy working 9 til 5 and watching Big Brother.

When they were finished with the lunar landing module they slammed it back down on the moons surface and the sound it made was like it was hitting hollow sphere, they left microphones down there to hear it.

There's water on the moon. In the future, it can be used as a stopping point for going out into space. As the gravity is much weaker on the moon than the earth. plus the water can be used for fuel. (seperating the hydrogen and oxygen).

there would have to be something up there by now with all the technology weve got, its probably been up there for a long bloody time , maybe the next base is just getting made on mars write now???

i reckon if there was theres no way the government will tell us ,and theres no way us common people could find out ,with the 20,000,000 ticket for a seat on the space ship...

Yes they found water on the moon... and they have decided all it is is urine that was ejected from the apollo missions.

I heard somewhere there was a layer of radiation above the earth and it was impossible for humans to leave orbit without dieing, so surely it's impossible to land on the moon? Is this radiation layer actually there?

yea ive heard aboutt hat radiation layer before too, but the thing is: what type of radiation?

ive also read in the fringe section of this site that the base is actually a joint US/Russian/Grey base (grey being them grey aliens).

i also read on above top secret that in 1961 or 1962 we landed on mars (not out spacecraft and we werent driving), we now have a mars colony as part of alternative 3. there is apperently a video tape of this landing, i can try to find the link if anyone is interested?

As I stated earlier, there is heavy radiation in space. Think what the O-zone layer that surrounds the earth protects us from. If you think it's bad now, head out there, you need more than a radiation suit to protect you from those rays.

The reason the moon always shows only the "light" side of itself is because it revolves on it's axis at exactly the speed needed to offset it's orbit... Think of it like this:

Hold out you hand, in a fist. Then hold out your other hand in a fist. Now, turn the first hand around the second hand, while making the side that was facing the hand in the beginning keep on facing it. That is what is happening with the moon.

The reason it does that is because in it's formation, the gravitational pull of the Earth pulled most of th heavy elements to the "light" side of the moon. By current accepted scientific theory at least.
