Cashiering
Cashiering
Guide by: scuzzy-elo 2003
Introduction
In this text, I will discuss a few interesting things to do as a cashier.
Materials
Job as a cashier (
?)
Credit Card copy machine with carbon receipts
A few loose $1.00 $50.00 bills
Short Change Cashiers View
This is just one of the many variations of shortchanging.
Lets say that you are working the cash register and someone purchases an item that costs $6.00. If the person hands you a 5 and a 1 then you can put the 5 into the register but grab one of the loose $1 bills and claim that the customer only gave you two ones. Now the customer can either give you $4.00 or take one $1.00 bill back and give you a $5.00 bill. Now you have made $4 or $5.00 and the correct amount of change will be counted for in the register.
Notes
Have your loose bills in neat stacks with a bit of space between them. (i.e. - $1s $5s $10s etc.) This allows you to easily grab your bill and make it look like you were just sticking it into the register and noticed the incorrect change.
Also, check to see if there are any cameras watching the registers.
Getting Credit Card Information
In some situations, you may need to use a device that swipes a credit card under a receipt with a sheet of carbon paper over it. When you swipe you are getting the card number, expiration date, etc. There is also a stamp with your companys name in the center of the receipt.
When you receive the card, set it in the center of the device over the companys stamp and swipe the card. You should get all the information on the face of the card. Now, take this receipt and store it away. Next, take another receipt and do the form correctly and get the other required information from the customer from the back of the card. After the customer has left, write all the information down and dispose of the carbon copy and receipt. Now you have all the information you would need to make purchases online, mail order, etc.
Notes
I suggest you work very quickly to keep the customer from noticing your first mistake. Also, check for cameras.
When using the information, dont use your own computer. Use an anonymous computer like in a hotel, school, work, library, etc. Also, if you order by phone, dont use your own personal phone. If one were to have items delivered, a drop location would be beneficial.
Quick Thoughts On Drop Points
A drop location is any building that an item is delivered to and picked up by the buyer at a later time. Possible drop locations are abandoned houses (that look reasonable), or houses for rent.

Re: Cashiering
Here's another thing you could conceivably do:
Let's say you're a clerk at McDonald's. You have a friend come in and order something, paying for it with a five dollar bill. You then give them change for a fifty, instead of for a five. Rinse and repeat.

What about the cash machines getting all the wrong cash data inputted then you get busted.

Re: Cashiering
There is a thing called a till count. If your cash register is missing money by the end of the day, you get it deducted from your paycheck...or so I beleive.
