Default Ebay video game scam

OK heres what I thought of when looking at evil chrono trigger prices on ebay:

A chrono trigger game, or similar rare game sells for what, like 60 bucks? So heres what ya do. You go on ebay, and buy a bunch of broken SNES carts. Then you buy one chrono trigger cart. Then you scan the chrono trigger cart onto your computer, and print it out on glossy sticker paper so that it looks exactly like the one on the game. Now put the fake sticker on all the broken game carts you have. You might want to take the old sticker off. You then sell it on ebay with the clause "I don't have my SNES anymore, I don't know if it works, but I'm assuming yes because it doesn't seem to be damaged" Then you sell them all on ebay for 60 bucks each, like one every month or so. Hopefully no one will catch on and you are making some nice bucks. Also you can try selling on other sites like yahoo auctions, and maybe like returning it to electronics boutique or something. Good luck, and feedback!

Interesting idea, but wouldnt you think selling warez would be better? Any way ebay has people post comments after the transaction rating your system. And if u try to make a new account u need another credit card i think.

People will leave very negative feedback if you do that, and then no one will buy from you because they'll know its a scam.

You'd have to use a different account each time, which would be too much of a hassle in my opinion.

Yeah thats not gonna work, people on ebay rely on their feedback to sell things, if its bad no one will buy it.

Maybe trading it in at EB could work, why not try it once, you can always say you didnt know.

This scam has already been written up. Just bring it to a collector, they will put up a good price for a snes rpg, and if they don't try another one until you find one that does.

Or you could just NOT mention that it might be fucked up and then put shipping insurance on it...

Another eBay "video game" scam...make a cardboard box shaped like the letter "X" and sell it as an X-Box. This way it's legal, because MS's product has no hyphen. You'll also have to make your listing very vague. Just put a low starting price, like 50 bucks, and people will buy it. You can do the same with a "Game Cube" (as opposed to Gamecube), making a cube-shaped CD jewel case holder.

I have seen worse scams then that on ebay and people were bidding.

A better idea would be to create a fake cartrige like you mentioned, but then buy a real one off eBay, claim it didn't work, and return the fake one.

Money back, game aquired. (Unless of course they replaced the game, but then you have two of them - sell a copy!)

Somebody had a scam like that on this board a while back. I forgot who it was, though. Maybe if I had registered back then I'd know

It's that much easier to go to an emu site and download them free.

Word.

Dude, why do people waste time buying this shit, when you can get it for free? I mean who cares if its a "collectors" item, I got an emu of CT and i got it on PS. Thats enough collection fo me.

I like the X-box and Game Cube scams. Haha, thats great. You could also sell a PS/2. "This PS/2 works great, and allows you to play many games using powerful hardware etc."

PS/2 is the name of the port the mouse plugs into on your PC, if it's not a USB mouse. They sell them for like 2 dollars. I know it's not as good as the game cube and X-box but it's still an idea.

I had completely forgotten about the ebay rating system. Poo. You could get a CD label press and a good ink jet and print up cd labels and get like gold CD-rs that look like DVD's and return them in the box and get free PS2 games, but thats an entirely different thing. I just know that my friend payed a ton for chrono trigger just so he could say he owned it.

Another thing I just thought of. At the movie rental place I work at, if a game/dvd is wrecked, they chuck it. Now, I take the cases, take a blank cd, burn the game on it, and label it authentically. Now, sell it, and if it is a dvd, it will work. If it is a ps2, or an xbox game, then it won't work on their system, but tell them that a compatibility problem between your products, and their things isn't your fault (write that in your sales page somewhere)

Then again, this thing about ratings screws up alot of scams...

Bwaah.

A lot of people will still buy from someone with a zero rating, though. You might have to get new IDs often, but it's worth it.

Why dont you just dl the game off an emu site. I saw something that you could use to write the game on a cartridge (it was for people who wanted to program their own NES games) Once you have the game you could get some old work cheap games and write that to the cartridge and make your authentic label on your computer bingo you have your $60 game.

EB checks every cart you try to sell them by putting it in the console that plays it and starting it up... so passing off non chrono chrono's won't work there... besides they know the difference between a shitty copy of the label and the real deal.

That X-Box scam sounds funny, but seems like it would work. You'd just have to go to the official site and get the official name (just to be sure). They may give you negative feedback, but you comment that they bought exactly what was described. As far as legality, I'm pretty sure its legal (you did show a picture, used a proper name, and gave a correct description). But, p[eople won't buy from you anymore I bet.

Shit, I could see it now

"X-Box, new, good condition. The Box works well and is complete.

Just go steal a fucking credit card from your 3rd grade teacher. I stoll a few from that bitch, but that was way back in the day when I didn't know the difference from a credit card and a library card, lol.

For the X-Box or Game Cube scam, if you listed all the items at pretty much the same time, you could sell all of them before anyone was able to give you negative feedback. Drop the ID, get another, rinse and repeat.

Relentless, you're a moron.
