Something I just thought of -- hotels.
So I was thinking of how to obtain room keys to hotel rooms. How about calling people in their rooms and saying something like this,
"Hi, I'm so and so calling from the Marriott customer satisfaction department. We're doing a servey on the quality of your stay to make sure we're bringing you the best possible experience with us. On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate the cleanliness of our rooms? How would you rate the friendliness and helpfulness of our staff? Okay that should be all I need and if you'd like I can enter you in a drawing for a free weekend getaway at our Disney World location with free tickets to the theme park. I'll just need your name, address, and room number...."
Maybe people would give out information like that pretty easily if they thought they could win something.
Then with their name and room number go down to the front desk and ask for a key.

Re: Something I just thought of -- hotels.
Before posting, you should check to see if there are threads on this subject. There is a great one here: The Wonderful World of Hotels (http://www.totse.com/bbs/Forum7/HTML/004722.html).
Thoughts on getting room keys has been covered there, along with other thoughts on hotel scamming.
To find wether or not a topic has been discussed before, use the search (http://www.totse.com/bin/bbs/search.cgi?action=intro&default=7) feature.
If you have an idea pertaining to that subject, post it in the best thread choice from of results of your search. This services as a bump to the thread and keeps it from sinking to the bottom and eventually, being deleted.
Regarding your idea:
The main flaw I see is that if you were calling to survey the rooms from the "front desk", you would already have that information with their billing information. The success rate of this scam seems low as most people will know this. If the room tennant calls the front desk back to ask a question about the "prize drawing" any further, the front desk may be more cautios about giving information to people walking up to the desk. When you would go to get a room key for the room you called, there may be a bit more security against you. Other methods of obtaining acess to hotel rooms are covered in the thread mentioned above.
