Default what to order...

someone said,

I am kind of drawing a bit of a blank as far as what to order with a CC# if you dont want to have to go to the post office and pick it up. I have thought of gift certificates, maybe traveller's cheques...but it seems that ordering these things online can put forward quite a bit of red tape. One gift certificate site, to protect against un-authorized credit card use need a real phone number..does that mean they need a number to call and confirm? sounds a bit dodgy to me.

thanks

Yes, they'll call that real phone number. It's to confirm the order.

Don't use CC#'s. If your caught, minor or not, you're in serious trouble. We're talking months in juvi/jail. Nowadays with technology to, its easy to tell if your frauding (trust me, I work for a hosting company, I'm in charge of billing and the software/knowledge we have can catch just about any frauder).

Get yourself a job kid. Don't screw up your life.

Very true. CC fraud is a very, very Bad Idea. It's much simpler and safer to do other scams to get money to order stuff.

how can you tell if someone is frauding? I would be using a real address with real credit card information.

someone told me,

well, victorthree

you told me to trust you, that you could tell if someone was frauding, well then at least tell me why MY purchase would stand out as a fraud above any others? But lets say this site doesn't need a confirmation phone number.

Jenk, my company records the IP's that are used to purchase, we trace the IP's back, if it turns out to be a proxy we contact the proxies owners, get a list of who used it and what they did with it, then call the authorities. If the IP was true, but, lets say the credit card owner's house was in Vermont, and the IP we traced is in Washington, we're gonna call up the credit card company and ask. Theres almost a 90% chance we're gonna catch you. Don't even bother. There are better money making, and enjoyable scams out there.

and I quote,

ok, bear with me here, I am going to put this scenario past you. Someone gets a credit card number from calgary, goes to the library, orders some stuff and gets it sent to a drop point in calgary that has never used before. This person picks up the package when it arrives, the thing ordered fit in an envelope so he/she takes it home, and never uses that drop point again. I do not see a way to get caught.

Most places only ship to the billing address. If you know otherwise, please correct me.
