It depends there are some locks, so far i've only seen ML's like this, that have the metal part around the lock that goes all the way up to part that hooks around. (<- sorry bout the run on sentence) They are special hella expensive "cut proof" locks, someone put those on this kids lock at school, and they hadda pry the entire lock part off of the locker.

cool, never seen one of those, thats why my current school has the locks built in(gay). so I just never put anything in there. Otherwise I'd buy one of those just to fuck with em, heh.
Cutting time depends on the strength of the person cutting and the quality of the lock. Cheap locks take maybe 5 to 30 seconds depending if it can be broken first try or second(if you only cut part way through). Master locks are better and generally take a couple three tries even for the strong guys. Not sure why the time matters, but if you're going for stealth, this shit is pretty loud when you break it.

Bolt cutters come in different sizes. larger = more leverage and cutting average locks is easy- first time with a large bolt cutter.

Many Padlocks of all brands are 'Case Hardened', meaning that when they are made they are exposed to heat, hardening the lock. Bolt cutters wont cut these types, and they are becoming more popular. The best thing to do with these is either pick them, drill them out with a carbide bit, or cut them w/ an oxyacetylene torch.
