Default competitive pricing

so, about this compartitive shopping...where a company gives you a product at the lowest price you can find it at. Well I want to ask anyone who has done this how low they have actually went. I mean if a computer is $2000, could you get away with getting it for $1000, or do they get too suspicious? does a printed out page of the website usually suffice, or do they check the page themselves? I mean this would be a store with the internet readily available.

also, has anyone found any flaws in the make your own electronics website with LOW LOW prices?

thanks in advance.

I'm not entirely sure of what you just said (there's this language called English, people, learn it...it's quite useful), so are you talking about getting fake/altered ads/price sheets from some company to use with "Price Match" guarantees?

Hrm...well, first of all, does anyone know if any stores let you use print ads for this?

Yes, some times it will work.

All you have to do, is if they do check the site, say something like "Oh my, looks like the sale is over. Bummer" then walk out, and find a new store. Rather simple. You can walk out with a $400 GFX Card and only have to pay $100.

I thought about this one time when I saw an item cheaper on the web, but Best Buy won't match prices on items found on the internet. I think it says this on their price match policy in the store, but I can't remember.

i printed out a page from the circuit city weekly flyer in texas once and took it to a pennsylvania best buy. circuit city advertised a wireless access point for 30 bucks, best buy had them for over 100. so best buy sold it to me for 30 AND gave me a 29 dollar rebate that only best buy (not CC) was offering. they didn't call or do any checking at all.

it definetly pays to check flyers from stores across the country then price match.

I've price matched with just a page from the flyer, but it was from circuit city, and I price matched at best buy, so that was pretty plausible. They seemed to look at it pretty close for some reason, no phone calls or anything though. It's actually better to price match than to just plain buy, since they usually give you a little extra off the price. You can pick up a few bucks legally, thats the game these companies play.

For a scam you might get some of this cheap thin ad paper and print out your own lower prices, bring it in on monday, right after the new ads on sunday. Usually the people working at the store won't even be aware of their own sales or price changes yet, much less any other stores. Big competitors like cicuit city and best buy might have a copy of the other's ad on hand though, so watch out.

Major companies in the same industries have agreements and clauses to check competition. Any "advertisement" would have to be from a local store and at least 25% above invoice.
