Default Are you Prepared?

Call me a survivalist, I don't care. I was wondering what you guys have done for preparation for the inevidible. Whether it be a terrorist attack, government coup, natural disaster, minority uprising etc. Oh, it WILL happen. Look at the Port Arthur incident. Check out this link http://www.overflow.net.au/~nedwood/portarthur.html.

Anyway, there is a large bit of bush near me. I have got a secret base thing in there. I have 200kgs of rice plus many different tools for gardening and building and what not. I have a small backpack with various equipment in it. On my utility belt I have a ruger mk2 pistol, 2 canteens, a slr bayonet, 2 m16 magazine pouches, 1 of which has 4 mags for the ruger the other various bits.

In the backpack I have firelighting equipment, socks, underwear and soap. At the base I have all this too. I have 3 pairs of camoflage clothes. I have traps and snares. I reckon I could live out there for 10yrs+. Does anyone else out there do this stuff? I was just wondering.

BTW, you guys are like the only people who know this, bar about 5 other people who do this with me. They stock assault rifles and stuff but because they are going to fight when it happens. The .22 pistol is just for my defence if it comes down to it.

I can't be tracked down too easily and If I am there won't be too much to find. I am very good at hiding stuff. If a search was conducted, they would have to check my neighbours and friends who live far away houses/backyards too. Don't worry about the secretive bullshit unless youre face to face with someone.

All of this preparation seems a little unnecassary. You must be super paranoid or something dude. Maybe its cause you live in Australia, but in Canada you wouldn't see anyone digging trenches and shit. I guess if it makes you feel comfortable.

Wait, why don't you just move to Canada? You can build bases in my backyard if you wish.

I agree. I would build a small base thing also, except theres no where to do it here..once I get a job, I am planning on stocking up on this shit also, you can NEVER be sure of what ANY government these days are going to do.

You laughed at us because we were paranoid..we laugh at you because your now a slave or dead.

If you think that's going to stop a government invasion, you're wrong; they're already here. Even if you got 5% of the population to do this, it still wouldn't matter. You would be out-manned first of all, then the government has missles.

Game over.

i don't remember you saying any thing about water and i'd give u about three days survival in there without it. Also did you mention a way of cooking the rice? i would get a generator and have the exhaus pipe routed to above ground. then you could cook everything electrically so it wouldn't bur up oxygen (even with vents the air would get pretty crappy)

Yes, it will happen and it will be funny when these idiots who were not prepared and who survive have a gun pointed to their heads under martial law as they are out cleaning up toxic debris. I'll be LMAO.

Anyhow, I have plans too but I do not reveal them. It is best only to discuss specific elements, and not an overall picture, so be cool.

BTW, your link doesn't work, can you find another source for the info?

Default Re: Are you Prepared?

For the guy that asked about water and gave me 3 days max:

There is a large freshwater river running through the area that I have got stuff at, its so big it ends up emptying in to the sea. I have thought of everything. I have prescription medicine down there too. Everything. Seriously. Name it, and theres a good chance I got it. BTW, the river is clean and has large numbers of freshwater edible fish. I have a flint that is equiv to 9000 dry matches, plus a magnesium thing that u scrape magnesium off and light it with a seperate flint, also equiv 9000 dry matches. I also have 3 magnifying glasses plus 10 000 real matches. I have cooking utensils down there too. The animal traps I got I can use to catch rabbits, foxes, wallabies and possibly kangaroos. I could also use my .22 pistol. Oh yeah, my uncle is going to give me a .22 rifle. He offered me a .222 but I didn't want it. I have $5000 worth of .22 ammo, which is 50 000 rounds. I think I will do just fine, thank you.

The guy who told me to chill out because I'm in Australia. Australia is under great threat from 2 areas.

1) The Indonesians. They have an OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT MAP that has the top half of Australia as Indonesian territory. Plus they are radical muslims over there who hate us. They have a huge population also, and in the 7 or so months it takes the US to get down here, I'd like to be able to guerilla fight and/or hide in the bush knowing I can live.

2) The new age left wing fags who are trying to bring this country to its knees by supporting minority groups, totally unaware of how the minority groups would treat them if they had power.

Australia is under great threat. Look where we are on the map.

That guy who wants another link cause my other one doesn't work, I'll get one for you. For all those people who live in Australia you will remember the 1996 Port Arthur massacre. Those who arn't from here or forgot it, read up, then read this website http://www.overflow.net.au/~nedwood/portarthur.html

and then this one http://www.overflow.net.au/~nedwood/JoeVialls.html

They just outline why you can't trust your government.

If you are from Australia, tell me your whereabouts, and if you are likeminded, we can meet up and prepare. Don't worry if you are unsure of what to do, I can help. Also, I CAN get firearms, due to most of my family being ex-army survivalist types.

And the guy who said stuff about exhaust pipes, so far its just a few semi insulated wooden structures, covered with infrared camoflauge netting. I am going to dig tunnels like the VC did though. so far I have dug only 10m worth though lol.

EDIT: I also have a 5 bottles of potassium permanganate and a bottle of glycerine for fire starting.

Default Re: Are you Prepared?

Well first off, dont be affraid to share any info on here. Trust me, the point of having this place is that we can share information with only a screen name we pick for ourselves with no other identifiable information given to other users.

Secondly, you can NEVER be too prepared. However, being 15 years old, I really cant do much. However, I do have my external harddrive which I keep important info on wired with explosives and a huge electro magnet which i HOPE will wipe all info once an AC current is applied. If that doesnt work, there is always the home made claymores I have strapped to it. Rather stupid for a drive that I just keep novelty Ids on, but hey, you can never be too careful.

As for the guy with a base in australia. I wouldnt never depend on the river for my only source of fresh water. I am pretty sure you have some water stashed at the base, but in the event of an emergency such as nuclear fallout...not unlikely with todays world, you will need to be indepedent from all of the outside world. I would suggest you have some sort of water purification system down there that will be able to take care of almost all contaminents and spare filters availible.

As for food, once again I wouldnt depend on trapping. However it is a very good idea to keep traps handy. If I were you I would purchase some military rations from surplus stores. Even if they taste like shit, they will fill you up with proper nutrients and can be stored for a very long time. Also, if you have a base big enough, I would suggest keeping seeds and possibly clones of plants around...eh marijuana here is a must.

Weapons...only having one handgun and one rifle in .22 would not be good. What if it comes down to serious defense? Will you be able to depend on the .22 to penetrate armor? Well, you will probably not face armored enemies, but what about a car? If I were you I would get an AR15 or MINI14 with some .223 ammunition handy. You should definitely keep the .22's around however as they are the most useful of guns.

Then, there is the danger of air contamination. Like I said before, nuclear fallout is very likely if it comes down to total war between nations. You will need an air filtration system for your base and for yourself. Hazard suits that have battery powered fans and 5 redundant filters can be purchased online in the United States for under 500 each. A good air filtration system for a base can be gotten from many commerical air conditioning suppliers. ANd obviously, you will need many spare filters.

As for electricity, I would recommend you keep an ammount of different batteries besides your generators. I would go for lithium Ion ones, however they tend to be expensive. You can ofcourse just purchase normal batteries and use them as your replace them.

Now transportation. You can purchase an all terain go-kart for under 1000 dollars at most sporting good stores here in the states. These are small, easy to dis/assemble, and fuel efficient. In the event of an emergency, you would want a form of transportation which can be stashed at the base and is cheap enough to keep around.

As for fuel, I would keep that and other explosive/flammable chemicals away from the main base room. I would suggest you keep that in a seperate chamber if possible. However, most people with small bases do not have this luxury.

On a side note, you can buy waterproof, radiation resistant, bullet resistant, containers here in the States from many stores. These were real popular during the Sars/terrorism(I have no clue why people would want this for sars) scare. They can be obtained for around 10/20 dollars each. I found that these are truely sturdy, and dispite having doubts about their claims to be bullet resistant, I would keep most of my things in these.

Then there is the thing with building supplies. On one hand, you would want to keep some boards and nails handy, on the other, they might be some extra crap you might not need. This is cheap so I would keep some around.

Powertools...these are a must. Drills, saws, dremel, and others if they are availible. Battery powered if you can get them like that and still pack enough punch to do a good job. I beleive there is a kit here in the states made by Black n Decker that contains all these tools in a large case complete with battery. They are 18 volts, probably powerful enough for most purposes.

Cleaning...Well, you obviously have soap and things along those lines. However, did you think about brooms and vaccume cleaner? Great quality handheld vacs such as the EuroPro shark can be purchased for uner 50 dollars and are a great addition to your base. Then again, this falls under the extra, not neccessary but nice to have catagory.

Clothing. Once again, it is obvious that you have plenty around. However, what kind? If I were you, I would only keep tough things made from denim, leather, and a few flannel shirts around. You should skip the tshirts and other things which dont last a long time. Also, for underwear, you might want to consider the new neoprane(sp) ones. They are suppose to be very durable, water proof, washable, easily dried, and very warm, not to mention comfortable. I beleive you can purchase socks made from the same material. Socks as anyone would tell you are a rather important part of survival.

Medication: Painkillers are a must. I would try to purchase some morphine if possible. They can be obtained from most large drug dealers that sell heroine and other opiates. Other drugs such as OTC medication should also be kept. Also, pills for radiation(forgot the name) will be very helpful to have, as well as those anthrax(and other bio weapon) shots that the US government has kept from the public.

Finally, I would once again stress the fact that I am only 15 years old and do not have any experience with this. All the above are only my ideas and should NOT be taken as serious advice.

Default Re: Are you Prepared?

Those are some fine ideas. I don't have anything electrical, as I do not expect to have electricity avail to me. I am thinking of investing in some solar panels for recharging batteries however.

With the guns, the other guys I am there have to works. They are proper survivalist guys, ex army dudes. They have all kinds of shotguns, rifles and pistols. They have 2 Steyr AUG's that were apparently stolen from the army. They have grenades and all that. We can put up a fight if we need to. They have more guns than they need, so they can give me one to use if we need to.

For the fresh water thing, I only have betadine for water purification, which only kills germs. In the event of nuclear war, I am pretty screwed, but nevertheless, I do have 180L of distilled water.

Everything I mention is only what I personally have, I do not mention what the other guys have, as all our bases are about 500m apart, but with one central area to meet. I want to dig tunnels to join all our areas up, however.

Default Re: Are you Prepared?

Some things I suggest you get:

- Ethyl Ether: If you can't get any raw [it shouldn't be that hard] you can extract it from starter fluid. This will be helpful if someone is injured [shot?] and needs to be fixed up [its an anesthetic if you didn't know]

- Crystal Methamphetamine: No, this is not for having fun with. In the event that you have to fight, this can give you a really unfair advantage. However, if you do get some of this to keep around your base, I suggest you try it a few times first, because you'll need to make sure you can be compfortable while on it.

- Codeine: You already mentioned having RX drugs, so I'de imagine you have pain killers. If not, codeine is a good one as I believe it can be bought OTC in Australlia [and Canada].

- Gas Masks: You know what these are for!

- Generators: Even if you build your base so as it doesn't need electricity, its still good to have something in the event that you do need electricity for something [you never know!].

- Night Vision Goggles: These can help you out if you need to fight/escape/do whatever at night.

- Body Armor: This can also give you an unfair advantage in a [gun] fight.

- Surveilance Cameras: Just a few cameras with good resolution and zooming capabilities. These could be ordered from a security company, and can allow you to see whats going on outside without actually going out [and possibly giving yourself away]. Also, ones with night vision capabilities would be best. The only problem with these is that they would require electricity, but you would only need to turn them on if you feel theres somehting outside you need to watch so if you have a couple generators, this won't be a problem.

- Garden: This doen't have to be huge, but you should still have a garden.

- Traps: You already mentioned having traps for catching animals, but what about traps for DETECTING someone? Not a trap that will capture a person, but just give them away. If you have some of these around the perimiter of your base along with the surveilance cameras, any intruder is pretty much fucked.

- Radio and/or TV: You will still want to know whats going on so you know what you're up against, won't you? The media isn't the best for telling people the truth but its all you've got really.

- Scanners: Having a couple scanners would be good, because if you are being attacked and the attackers are using wirless radios or walkie-talkies you may be able to pick up their frequency and listen in on them, thus giving you an advntage. Also, they can pick up any radio waves within the area [as well as their frequency], giving away anyone who decides to use a radio around your base [and furher].

These are just a couple thigns I suggest. It just seems like your base lacks some technology. While certain types of technology can complicate things you really do need some things if you want to avoid capture.

Should something like this befall Prauge (unlikely), I find running to be far preferable to entrenching myself in something that certainly cannot fend off an army, not to mention a nuclear warhead. It wouldn't be difficult for me to disappear-my driver's liscense and registration are fakes, my apartment is under an alias, I never vote or pay taxes. The only thing to prove that I ever existed is my birth certificate and my arrest warrent. From there I have many friends in many places...

The point of these bases is not to fend off an army, it's for survival. No one wants to fight and waste ammo or risk their lives if they dont want to. Thats why people have suggested getting some security cameras so you will know if passerby's have found out about your little place and if there going to try to enter, so you will be prepared.

On that note, I think every base should have a hidden hallway thingie leading off to somewhere else that doesnt have an entrance from the ground. It will be very usefull for if there is a group/clan/army and you dont think you will be able to take them all.

And on the sarcasm in this thread..those people are idiots, theres no reason to bash one another because of them wanting to be prepared for the inevitable.

Hey that excel thing looks good. BUT, I can't get it to open in my comp. I got some IRC.mimic or something like that and Nortons can't fix it. Shit. Anyway, I never use IRC chat, I don't think it's even installed. lol. oh well.

When I do open it, I can see it but then excel has to close for it has generated errors. But anyway, it looks very professional and thorough.

The topic is called being PREPARED. You dont know when or if the next big diaster will happen, that is why you are preparing.

As for that checklist, would it be possible that I receive a copy also? Hushed@hush.com

To the person with the mineshaft in the mountains: I dont think it would be such a good idea to build the entire base inside mineshafts. For one, you risk collapse if the bombs start to fall, and since these are mine shafts, they wont be able to withstand much. It would be a good idea to use some very solid reinforcement, possibly a concrete bunker within these mines. Oh, and dont forget to stash enough tools inside your base so you can dig out.

Hmm, it may be from me, because I do have a feeling that I have a virus because my computer is extremely slow, even for 64MB ram. But, when I sent it over Yahoo! and it tests for viruses, it says the file was clean..and no, I dont not currently have a Virus Scanner on my computer..sorry for any damages that it may have caused you, but I wouldnt not have known..this computer is going with my sister when she moves out of state on friday anyways, so I will be using my father's computer, which is relatively safe as far as we know..he is currently out looking for McAfee..so once he gets that, I will fix the Excel worksheet problem, and resend it to you.

OK I want to clear things up with all you stupid dickheads. To the ones that think we're crazy people that have nothing better to do then come up with stupid theory’s with our time I say your stupid, we'll be the ones with the last laugh. Encase you didn't realise the global economy is built on bubbles. It'll take hardly anything to pop it and once that happens there's nothing we can do, banks will crash, business's will fail to operate, the notes you have in your hand will be worth nothing but something to keep the fire alive with. Think I'm crazy huh, I have friends in the world bank that say it can't last for long it's just a matter of time till society as we know it collapses.

OK as for my base, I have been working on it for the last ten years of my life, I have been sticking 40% of everything I have made into it and it's turned out fucking well. I own ten percent of a 20 km round Island. I have a shack there and a farm. I gain enough electricity from hydro electricity to feed 5 inner city blocks. I can run my PC, my electric powered speed boat motor, oven, scanner equipment everything I need. I have enough food, even have a cockle plantation and I have a fuck of a lot of books and knowledge installed on the computer.

I don't really understand why you guys say you'll have to defend yourselves because you’re probably not going to be attacked. Unless you live in Australia and all the Indonesian’s flock over because they think we have way more room but in fact it's all just desert. That's why I bought an Island. I'll probably never be bothered but I have to admit I'll be lonely. Only me and my girl. I suppose I'll have a lot of sex though :P. Anyway that's my rant. To all those dickheads who say we're stupid we'll so who has the last laugh, while I'm on Noah's II arch.

PS. pacman you suck you stole my name.

We should make a list or map (or both) of everyone with one of these compounds/bases/strongholds so when everything happens, us privileged few can flee to and hide in the nearest shelter.

I was thinking about making one, but there's the problem with me living in town, and my parents. I'll still try though...

An alliance of these stations would certainly benefit everyone.

I think that aussi guy there has a real point. There IS going to be an attack in the years to follow. But I think that it'll be on the US. It's an awesome idea to stock up, but ammo and food'll do you better than money. I am from Canada, and I know that Americans don't like us here, but when it does happen. I'll be right there beside them to fight for the country. I don't really like the hippyish, non-patriotic attitude of Canadians, but my friends and I will want some action since Canada is too big to take over and has a lower threat level than the USA. I think that americans are more prepared cause it's easier to get ahold of weapons there and they are more patriotic than Canadians, but in Canada... seriously... we can just hide up in the mountains with our weapons and live there for a long time. But, my american friends. If something happens, i'll sure be there to help you out. And if somethng happens in Canada for some reason... I hope you'll be here to help us out too !!!

And the angel of the lord came unto me, snatching me up from my place of slumber. And took me on high, and higher still until we moved to the spaces betwixt the air itself. And he brought me into a vast farmlands of our own midwest. And as we descended, cries of impending doom rose from the soil. One thousand, nay a million voices full of fear. And terror possesed me then. And I begged, "Angel of the Lord, what are these tortured screams?" And the angel said unto me, "These are the cries of the carrots, the cries of the carrots! You see, Reverend Maynard, tomorrow is harvest day and to them it is the holocaust." And I sprang from my slumber drenched in sweat like the tears of one million terrified brothers and roared, "Hear me now, I have seen the light! They have a consciousness, they have a life, they have a soul! DAMN YOU! Let the rabbits wear glasses! Save our brothers!" Can I get an amen? Can I get a hallelujah? Thank you Jesus.

To all the people who say we shouldnt worry because australia is not in danger: we are in danger because we are probably the softest western target for terrorists, and also indonesia has this thing about owning half of australia.

My base ideas revolve around buried storage crates. The metal kind you see on the back of semis. Guns are a problem in aus, its quite difficult to find combat weapons. There are however hundreds of unfound storage spots along the north aussie coast left over from ww2 full of guns and grenades etc, which probly dont work anymore but plenty of ammo which supposedly is still good. I dont know why the ammo did survive though, the information is probly wrong.

Classic paranoia. You won't believe me of course, sadly.

Then again, you don't sound like a fool. I like the mostly low-tech approach. Do you know how to make/use a firebow? you don't really need to with your flints etc, but it's good to know. I'd get some potassium permanganate; its an antisceptic, a water steraliser and (1:1 with sugar) an excellent fire starter.

You intend to live in/on the land rather than build some impregnable lair. That makes good sense. Mobility is a very good survival technique. So you won't survive a nuclear holocaust, why would you want to? So you can enjoy a nuclear winter, eating MREs as your teeth fall out?

You sound very sorted. Go to the hills, just take a wireless laptop and lots of batteries (solar rechargers are cheap ) because I'd like to know how you are getting on.

I can make and use a firedrill, but its damn hard. i have a few magnifying glasses on hand anyhow. I am pretty well prepared.

The thing about indonesians thinking they own half of australia IS TRUE. in indonesia, they are taught IN SCHOOL that the top half of australia is their original lands. and theyre all crazy muslims. and the top half of australia on official government maps is their territory.

that guy who reckons guns are hard to get in australia: i know ALOT of survivalists. email me and i can help you out with whatever. no bullshit. rocket launchers, machine guns, handguns, ANYTHING.

also, you might want to come down to one of the "meetings"

EDIT: yeah i got the pot perm. I mix it 1:2 with glycerine for a good firestarter. its all in my checklist. i got some potassium chlorate but u cant really get that shit anywhere and i havnt got much of it, so no point mentioning it really...

Magnifying lenses, not much use here, it just lets you look at rain close up. Any experience in cordage? Knapping? this (http://ic.net/~tbailey/Primitive.html) might help. No point relying on technology if you dont need to.

Needless to say I plan to expand into several tunnels VC style.

It is good to have a base of operations especially if you intend to fight back.

The best things I have found use for it is for storage.

Somebody above said something about storage crates on semis, and I don't know if this is what you're talking about, but I was inspired. For about $2,000US you can get a used semi trailer. That's a pretty big room if buried underground. Plus, they have built-in doors. I personally think this is a fucktastically superb idea. The structure might need a little reinforcing, but I think it'd work. You could keep adding on to the bunker with more trailers, just buy & bury as you go along.

I prefer Benders (improvised shelters). I have a farmhouse with walls over a foot thick, ancient limestone. If I heard automatic weapons I'd be straight out into the woods. The Ffan may be bullet proof, I'm not.

I've known the land all my life though. I watch and listen to the birds. I make very little sound when I'm moving. Remaining 'invisible' is as much down to attitude.

Magnifying glasses, I just meant they'd be no use in Wales. It doesn't have sunshine, just lots of rain. Even kindling is hard to find. At least good water is no problem.....

My sister and I used to 'hunt' each other across anceint woodland. Slow work, but both of us always found the other. There's never been anyone turn up at the Ffan unexpected.....

Conditions in Oz must be so different, I don't know how useful my contributions may be. I'd be pleased to keep talking though. I tickle fish, snare and line. I'm a more than competant forager. Computers keep me in the city. Sad, isn't it?

I lived rough for ten days, a bit of a cheat as I had the option, fun though. I had a basic kit (based on Royal Marines, everything in a tobacco tin) and a good knife. I lost a lot of weight and looked like the Unabomber. It sharpens your senses though (especially appetite, I've never thought about food so much). I made no contact with another person, and lived of genuine foraging not stealing. After ten days I was starting to talk to trees... I should have taken more salt with me. Or maybe a packed lunch.

I love just going somewhere. No money, no food but good boots (I like Docs, guess it's Blundstones for you). Just winging it. You see a country properly that way. Well, you see a lot of petrol stations anyway.
