Default Magnetic gift cards/Borders Books security

Hey, just wondering if any current or former Borders employees happened to be on this board. As a frequent visitor to my local Borders i have a few questions.

1. How many security cameras does a typical store have, and which sections are they focused on?

2. How vigilant is the actual viewing of said cameras by employees?

and, most importantly:

3. Borders has abandoned paper gift certificates in favor of magnetic gift cards that are technologically imbued with value at the checkout counter when you buy them. But when they are redeemed, does anything happen to them to devalue them? I've seen many, many such cards in the trash while dumpstering at Borders...would they be useful if someone hypothetically wanted to fish them out and go shop with them?

Thanks.

So, you basically want to know (for question three) if there's any way to change the value of a given gift card at home?

I think there's a file on this, somewhere, in the Technology section...hrm.

It'd be a much better idea to just use Dizzie's bookstore credit scam.

You cannot recharge them at home. The value contained within the card is stored at a central computer in the store headquaters. The card only contain a number, sort of like an account number. You can change this number if you have another acccount number however.
