The idea that 'holes' are in the brain is a myth. Oxygen doesn't get to certain parts of the brain, and when you look at it through a computer - it looks as if their are HOLES in the brain. It LOOKS like it.

He's probably having brain-surgery from something else that he's not telling you about.

The myth behind the "Ecstasy Holes," is due to the fact that something like 90% of street Ecstasy has Methamphetamine in it - which may burn holes in your brain.

There's also a theory that if you completely (or almost completely) drain your synapse of serotonin during an excessive MDMA binge, you'll leave your re-uptake transporter pumps open for the potential of dopamine binding to them. When dopamine binds to the wrong re-uptake pump (in this case, one designated for serotonin) it will be transported to the part of the brain where MAO would normally break down and recycle serotonin. When MAO breaks down dopamine it become hydrogen peroxide, which is highly neurotoxic, and definitely capable of burning a hole into your brain.

it is only with longterm massive use but it does kill off parts of the brain that is why they look like holes cuz theres nothing going on in those spots of the brain

For anyone scared about this (and it's something reasonable to be scared about) it can be somewhat prevented by taking a double dose of an SSRI like prozac when you start coming down off the E (if you take it while you're still rolling though it can cut the effects out because mdma is pulled into the serotonin neuron by the transporter)

That's also true. The problem is your timing has to be perfect. If you take Prozac while you're still rolling then it'll kill the high, but if you wait too it won't make a difference.

The best way to prevent neurotoxicity is to load up on 5-HTP before and after you roll. There's nothing better than having excess serotonin after rolling all night - it'll make everything better. Hell, if you take 5-HTP while you're rolling, it'll boost it's effects.

my friend takes about 4 tabs every time he rolls (once or twice a week). and sometimes he will try the challenge of drinking as much tequilla as he can, and although im pretty sure his liver is dead, he doesnt have holes in his brain. we will wait and see in a few months whether or not hes psycho, but i doubt it. i forgot where i was going with this, but hes fine.
