Shroom, Good or Bad? You tell me.
If anyone can tell me about the good things and the bad things about shrooms and the short and long term side effects it would be appreciated.

Very very good. Panic attacks, HPPD, and aggravating pre-existing mental conditions are your long term worries. Who cares though. I <3 shrooms.... lol.

Re: Shroom, Good or Bad? You tell me.
I care, I'm still pondering as to whether such things as lsd or mushrooms would be safe, as I have a number of mental illnesses gone untreated for many years(refused medication). Including moderate to severe bipolarity, generalized anxiety disorder(which i really should complain about because i could get some xanax or something), and generalized depression. In short, I'm fucked up, all my family is fucked up(its inherited obviously), and I'm not sure if i want to risk being more fucked up than i already am just for a trip.

Basically, you are a victim of a screwed up society and you and your family have allowed damned quacks, a brainwashed society and the government to dictate to you what your problems are. All of those diagnoses are not at all scientific, are purely theoretical and come from sick and corrupt minds, ie, made by some of the most screwed up people that this society can produce= Psychiatrists Police State Agencies, government etc..
Read this site:
This Way Lies Ruin
Psychiatry is probably the single most destructive force that has affected the American society within the last fifty years.
Dr. Thomas Szasz, Professor of Psychiatry Emeritus, State University of New York
(and others) http://home.earthlink.net/~bazillion/ruin.html
You need to escape from this fucked up frame of reference in order to shed the anxities and brainwashing of society and find some true healing and peace of mind.
Hallucinogenics CAN make you a much superior human being with higher levels of perception, intelligence and enlightenment. This should be your motive in using such drugs. They are not to be used simply to 'get fucked up' or in vague terms 'high'. They should be used for visionary, exhiliarating, spiritual and enlightening experiences, thus increasing perception, intelligence, etc.
What you get out of these 'trips' is what you put into them, what you want to experience from them. Since you seem to be confined by the fake diagnoses of pseudo-professionals and opinions of the people who have conditioned to believe in that crap, then maybe you will be inclined to have some negative experiences on a 'trip'. But where do those come from? The false bullshit that you have been lead to believe or accept.
Back in the 1960's one of the primary slogans was 'Free Your Mind' and that referred to excaping from the lies and brainwashing of a very corrupt government and inferior society.
The need for such liberation is far more necessary today than it was then.
carry on...

Wow, you managed to eat several pounds of shrooms? An OD on most hallucinogens is rather difficult. You just couldn't handle your shit, you didn't OD.

LOL, I am not at all paranoid. Someday you will understand what I mean.
Sorry to take this off topic, but I think the original question has already been answered and i just have one more thing to write.
In the future, the affects of Psychiatric (so-called) 'Medicine' and professional Psychology will be viewed as one of the greatest attrocities of the 20th century. Millions of people have become permanently disabled.
It is also very much being used during the past 50 years to control (brainwash) the general population and specifically to neutralize dissent. BTW, the hottest professions sought by the CIA are in the fields of Psychology and Psychiatry for use in psychological warfare and brainwashing.
Now, referring back to that link I posted,
here are just a few of many quotes from the second hyperlink on that page:
http://home.earthlink.net/~bazillion/psych_quotes.html#exp
quote:
"We need a program of psychosurgery for political control of our society. The purpose is physical control of the mind. Everyone who deviates from the given norm can be surgically mutilated ... Man does not have the right to develop his own mind."
Dr. Jose M. R. Delgado
Director of Neuropsychiatry
Yale University Medical School
U.S. Congressional Record, 1974
[ClydeR's note; they do this with the MEDIA, psychiatric drugs, police and investigative agencies, arrests and imprisonments, etc. etc.]
"The reduction of intelligence is an important factor in the curative process ... The fact is that some of the very best cures that one gets are in those individuals whom one reduces almost to amentia [feeblemindedness]."
- Abraham Myerson, psychiatrist,
quoted in Bruce Wiseman, Psychiatry, the Ultimate Betrayal
"[psychiatrists had been] active in and primarily responsible for the different euthanasia organizations [in Nazi Germany]."
- German Society of Psychiatrists (DGPPN)
In Memorium, August 1999
"... in 40 years, 'biological psychiatry' has yet to validate a single psychiatric condition/diagnosis as an abnormality/disease, or as anything 'neurological', 'biological', 'chemically imbalanced', or 'genetic'."
Dr. Fred A. Baughman Jr., Pediatric Neurologist
"Malpractice and Violation of Informed Consent"
"Everyone is neurotic. I have no trouble giving out diagnoses. In my office I only see abnormal people. Out of my office, I see only normal people. It's up to me. It's just a joke. This is what I mean by this fraud, this arrogant fraud ... To make some kind of pretension that this is a scientific statement is ... damaging to the culture."
- Ron Leifer, psychiatrist, quoted in
Beverly Eakman, Cloning of the American Mind, 1997
"... modern psychiatry has yet to convincingly prove the genetic/biological cause of any single mental illness ... Patients [have] been diagnosed with 'chemical imbalances' despite the fact that no test exists to support such a claim, and ... there is no real conception of what a correct chemical balance would look like."
- David Kaiser, psychiatrist
"Commentary Against Biological Psychiatry"
Psychiatric Times, December 1996
"We do not have proof either of the cause of the physiology for any psychiatric diagnosis ... In the absence of any verifiable diseases, in recent decades, psychopharmacology has not hesitated to construct 'disease models' for psychiatric diagnoses."
- Dr. Joseph Glenmullen
Clinical Instructor in Psychiatry
Harvard Medical School, 2000
"The way to sell drugs is to sell psychiatric illness."
- Carl Elliot, Bioethicist
University of Minnesota, 2001
"Hyperactivity is not a disease. It's a hoax perpetrated by doctors who have no idea what's really wrong with these children."
- Dr. Sydney Walker III, psychiatrist
The Hyperactivity Hoax
"Many psychiatrists have had, at least to some degree, the unsettling and bewildering feeling that what they have been doing has been largely worthless and that the premises on which they have based their professional lives were partly fraudulent"
E. Fuller Torrey, M.D., psychiatrist
"What do you do when you don't know what to do? No wonder there are more suicides among psychiatrists than in any other profession."
Psychiatrist R. D. Laing
Wisdom, Madness, and Folly, p. 126

Re: Shroom, Good or Bad? You tell me.
Jebus Christ Clyder. You need to first deflate your head and then pull it out of your ass. I don't want to "open my mind" or acomplish some sort of shiritual blahbityblah. I just wanna hallucinate like a mother fucker. What I don't know is how much shrooms to take. I don't happen to have a scale with me so I wouldn't know if I were taking 4 grams or 40. Gimme some insight

After your first trip you will realize that the hallucinations is NOT the fun part. (or at least I did)
And I totally agree with ClydeR on each and every point. Just because he has an open mind(not all-too-programmed anyway) and YOU Little Pea are "free to do/think as we tell you". (we beeing the ruling forces)
Besides, use FUCKING www.erowid.org (http://www.erowid.org)
Its TONS of different shrooms, you do not know shit, and I suggest you either get a fucking grip and STUDY (here is where www.erowid.org (http://www.erowid.org) comes in to play) the drugs you are about to stuff in your face, or DONT TAKE IT AT ALL, or as a last resort: just do whatever the hell you want witout telling us about it and without asking... be my guest, fuck yourself up.
Edit: www.erowid.org (http://www.erowid.org) is all the insight you'll ever need. Learn to use it as a bible.
