Serotonin Syndrome?
Okay here is my question...
I have been taking Zoloft, an SSRI, for about 6 months now while also using some other substances. I frequently use alcohol, DXM, weed, opium, vicodin, codiene, with occasional coke and shrooms. I have read though that SSRI's can interact with a number of different drugs that can trigger something called Serotonin Syndrome in the brain which can result in death. Can somebody explain to me which drugs could cause this? I don't really need Zoloft as I have noticed no difference after taking it, I just take it to satisfy my parents. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks.

Re: Serotonin Syndrome?
Serotonin syndrome can be caricacterised by the metallic taste in the mouth. This is 5-HIAA (5-hydroxyindyleacetic acid. sp?) which is the final product of serotonin metabolism.
There are plenty of 5-HT2b receptors in the lining of the gut...

Re: Serotonin Syndrome?
While not a risk for causing seratonin syndrome, I would advise against eating mushrooms (or any hallucinagen) while undergoing treatment for depression (especially if using anti-depressants).
