Sobriety Test
Sobriety: The Harshest of all Possible Realities.
Not to say that life without drugs isn't all good and fun and fulfilling.
It is.
Rather instead realizing you wished you were high sucks, and I'm not talking about "I wish I was high cause being high in an amusement park (or whatever else fun place) would rule!" I'm talking about: "I wish I was high because I'm so fucking bored" or "I wish I was high because I'm so nervous" or "I wish I was high cause school (work, whatever) sucks."
Toking up to avoid reality sucks, and I've been doing that of late. I need to stop. I'm not thinking of quitting completely. I'll be a drug user my whole life, it's part of my personality (alteration of consiousness, I mean). I'll still toke up with friends and when I paint or compose or am about to do something worth toking up for. I need to stop using everyday in order to regain a grip on reality (not to mention motivation).
So this is my self-induced (paranoia driven) rambling/declaration of independence (from marijuana).
If you are feeling the same way, try this with me. Try not toking up for any given length of time.
It's not about quitting drugs absolutely. Drugs are grrrreat. I have no objection to drugs. I have an objection to using a substance to avoid reality. I need to think clear.
My length of time: 6 days I haven't toked since Thursday, so that would put me at staying away from ganja till Wed.

Re: Sobriety Test
I had to quit smoking to get a new job.....and the first 2 weeks are hell....but, for me, after the 2 weeks it's easy to say no......considering me and my friends were on weed 24/7.........

Re: Sobriety Test
agreed, abstinence leads to a far more pleasureable experience once you start-up again...and i myslef am going through my first couple of days after smoking...i smoked on the 8th, so two...or three...or however many days ago that is, fantastic...
not to say that if i had an ounce in my sock drawer i wouldn't be toking like crazy RIGHT NOW (no matter when you read this, it applies) but i suppose the fact that i have none combined with eminent drug tests is a good enough deterrent for now...
good luck with the "real" world

Re: Sobriety Test
I dont smoke so much anymore (maybe once or twice a month) but it used to be an almost daily ritual. It was alright for a little while, it didnt really affect other aspects of my life, but after a while i was just unmotivated to do anything, and didnt really. This went on for a while, then i did what you did, and just stopped for a few weeks.
It was crazy.. some guy on comedy central said it best "for the first week when i stopped smoking weed, i thought i was psychic. I mean, i knew where thigns were. I would say to myself 'where are my keys? oh yeah, theyre in my pocket'"

Re: Sobriety Test
Drugs are amazing things. But if you can't make it through a certain amount of time without smoking then it becomes a problem. I wish you the best in your journey. It is also possible that weed just isn't a good thing for you to use anymore. As harmless as we all thing pot it, we are sometimes misguided. I'm not saying that pot can't be used by anyone(I myself smoke lots), but it isn't meant for everyone at all times. Hope this made sense to you.

Re: Sobriety Test
I may have just smoked my last couple bowls for awhile, since i am also getting a job. It sucks, but I'll be doing other (shorter detection period) drugs in the meantime.

That's crazy, cause last night I had a dream Gold (the actual physical substance that's shiny) went up four dollars and the NasDaq was crashing. I mentioned it to my dad (we watch the market pretty closely) and he checked the price of Gold online this morning, and lo and behold gold was at $3.90 and the NasDaq was crashing. I just hope Gold doesn't close at $4.00, it'd freak me out to much.
Does anybody else have odd dreams when they don't toke up for any length of time? I mean, I have bizarre dreams all the time, but I remember them more when I don't toke...

Re: Sobriety Test
yea i had to give up pot for about a month now (before i was a daily user getting as stone as posssible for about a year and a half) but things go to messed up in my head and also my freind who got me my cannabis whent on holiday, so i was stuck with out any hash for about a month but in the mean time i have smoked like bud twice, i would say from my expirecnce that you need to wait at least 1 1/2 to 2 week to feel normal again, but i thought it would have been realy hard to quit but i couldnt get any and it wasnt that bad, aslo i dont smoke cigs and i thought i would have been addictied to the nicotine, but nope, even though in the last week i have taken up smoking every now and then but just to be socibal and to chill.
