Default Can your doctor send you to rehab/treatment against your will?

Hi, I need to know if your doctor can send you away to a ward or rehab if you tell them your an addict and are quitting and need some type of perscription med to sleep. I wil be telling my doctor I have smoked 2g+ [kind only] of weid everyday for the past almost four years. In the past few days I have not smoked as much as I do, and the past 30 hours not at all. Now I'm sweating, getting too hot then too cold. Everything is going slow and my brain hurts. I can't eat and when I do I can't eat a lot. I lay in bed tired but my mind races. I'm 19 F.

I ask this because I know about "if your are a danger to yourself or others, you will be committed against your will for your safety and the safety of others." My doctor is kind of a fem, but she is also from India...I will be reassuring her that I want to quit indeed, but I'm too far removed from society to judge if that will really mean anything to her.

P.S. - This doctor also knows I went to 9 months of rehab and detention when I was 15 for cok/H/Pc Pill

Instead of going to a doctor why don't you ring a specialised drugs helpline and ask advice. I really don't know if you can be forced to go to rehab, but getting some sort of help seems necessary.

No, she can't send you to rehab. And why would she? I don't know about in the states [I'm assuming you live in the states?] but I know 2 people who tried to goto rehab for pot here [Toronto, Canada] and they were laughed at and basically asked to leave, along with being given a brief explination of the fact that drug rehab is for people with REAL drug problems, and not for little bitches who can't handle a bit of sobriety after giving up a pot habbit.

My advice? Deal with it, because I doubt your doctor is even gonna prescribe you anything if you walk in and say you're having trouble sleeping because you just kicked a pot habbit, because I believe weak benzo's are usually prescribed for sleeping problems and they can be abused. So if you admit to drug use she most likely won't give you anything you can abuse, which means you'll probably get something you can buy over the counter. I say you get some Melatonin from a health store, but watch out because it will cause you to have incredibly realistic dreams!

in the us, thats not likely to EVER happen. no drug clinic looks down on pot smokers. my friend went for cocaine, and he said like 50% of the people were in it were trying to quit weed. (i know, seems like they are lil bitches but they were still there.)

kronikus' sure-fire sleep formula (Patent Pending):

A double or triple recomended dose of Diphenhydramine, paired with a couple doses of Valarian Root Extract (mine are standardized to 0.3% Valaric Acid), washed down with a glass of wine.

If this doesn't put you out, sleeping should be the least of your problems.

Yeah, but then again, think about how many of those pot heads entered rehab to avoid going to jail.

None the less, its still moronic to think that money is being wasted to treat people who don't need help, while crack heads and heroine addicts walk the streets. Well so long as we've got those violent 16 year old recreational pot smokers off the streets we should be happy!

Can't really expect much from America though, they're the worst for drug propaganda and other bullshit related to drugs.

150mg of diphenhydramine and a glass of wine? Thats probably not the best idea, unless you're in the market for delerium.
