more thoughts related to tripping
i was contemplating the saying that when you are going some where, you are already there. well, it is something like that. so i compared it to tripping. you take a substance to trip and experience something crazy and out of this world, but if you think about it, the world we live in is already crazy and full of undescribable things. we are already tripping. it isn't the vehicle. there are many ways to get to the same place. also, maybe people go into tripping expecting something awesome, and when anything different happens to them from what they hear and think is normal, they think it is a bad trip. now delerium, i can understand how some paranoia can make it a horrible experience. some times the hallucinations, or what i like to call alterations, can be freaky, but i always look at them with calm confidence. i don't know what a bad trip is, and no one i know does either. i have the ability to look at shear terror with no emotion. i saw a guy die once, he got hit by a car because he was drunk and fell in front of it. i looked at his mangled, lifeless body, and walked on. i looked at the murderer, and saw the look on her face, that is still imprinted in my head. the look of pure horror is an amazing expression. i can watch a porno and not get an erection. all this because i trip. am i starting to go insane? maybe i should back off a little.

Re: more thoughts related to tripping
were you raped as a child?..hmm no emotion can be good in some situations, but thats just strange. if i were to see a guy get hit by a car i would be like scarred for life. and that no erection shit...hmm sounds like you are turning in to that guy from the red dragon, that movie sucked ass BTW. but yeah..pretty weird.
my cure for you is to go smoke some pot nd express your happy feelings.

Perhaps that may happen to a few people, here or there, but on the whole, I'd say not.

That's a pretty good term for it. Because what you experience on acid [shrooms, too].
You see the things around you shift and change their basic patterns; you won't see full fledged, solid looking apparitions.
No demons, no dinosaurs, etc.
quote:
but i always look at them with calm confidence.
That's good. Some people don't/can't.
However, I'd like to know the answer to a few questions [see the bottom of this posting] that I'd like to know the answers to before I comment any further.
quote:i don't know what a bad trip is, and no one i know does either.
I really want to know the answer to the first question now. I, too, have never had a bad trip: I can't even fathom the idea of having one. That's because I have a mind that is too strongly rooted in this reality, which is a mostly good thing.
I do know, however, many, several people who have had what most people would call a bad trip, and a couple who have had what nobody could dispute was one.
I don't know if there's any statistical significance in this but the number of women who have had a bad trip - or at least a rough one - far out number the number of men who have had one.
quote:
i have the ability to look at shear terror with no emotion. i saw a guy die once, he got hit by a car because he was drunk and fell in front of it. i looked at his mangled, lifeless body, and walked on.
So?
I've dosed while working a funeral .
quote:
i looked at the murderer, and saw the look on her face, that is still imprinted in my head.
[i]Murderer implies an intent to kill; killer works, though.
quote:the look of pure horror is an amazing expression.
Yes.
Yes it is.
Actually, any emotion, expressed strongly is an amazing thing to see - on acid.
Actually anything seen on acid is an amazing thing...just about .
quote:i can watch a porno and not get an erection.
And yet again: So?**
quote: all this because i trip.
I so doubt that.
quote:am i starting to go insane?
If you have to ask...
I really would like the answer to the questions [that are soon coming...]
quote:maybe i should back off a little.
Oh Puh-leez
Just a question:
How long have you been dosing?
How many hits do you usually take in a sitting?
And, finally, about how many mics are in each dose?
I guess that's three questions, eh?
I'm not going to comment any further until I know this.

I liek the idea of how our perception is filtered all the time, then with these 'drugs' or entheogens as they should be called we are released from the filter that blinds...

Re: more thoughts related to tripping
This topic is weird... At first I was following weed man, and then it just got odd. Maybe he's tripping? I dunno. I've never had a bad trip either though. I've had some boring ones due to bad setting and the fact half the people I hang out with I mildly hate. But never bad. Well, that's all I've got to contribute.

Re: more thoughts related to tripping
I've had 2 "bad" trips. I didn't freak out or anything... well, not majorly.
The trips sucked cuz of the things I was thinking about and I couldn't stop thinking about bad shit. I really wouldn't even call them "bad" trips because they ended up being positive (in retrospect) - I'd just call them "trips that sucked." It's all about how you look at it.
I wouldn't take those trips back. I learned a lot from them.

hmm, yes, my first trip was one of those. I decided to trip at a concert for my first time, around a bunch of people I didn't know very well (I was drunk, and by drunken logic I thought I could handle it) and the trip was basically me, staring at the grass for six hours, thinking everyone was conspiring against me, and that they really hated me....not exactly a big bucket of fun, by my standards.

Re: more thoughts related to tripping
the above post reminds me of a trip on the fourth of july. i thought my mom and step dad were pissed at me because i was trippind, and i kept hearing them say shit like, "do you hate him now". i looked at the grass outside, wondered what it feels like to roll on spikes, and rolled away. i did acid once (but didn't trip). the guy said it was a 4 hits on one kind of thing, but it wasn't. i took a fourth of a hit, and didn't feel shit. i have taken a lot of morning glory (tripped 8 times total of it). so much that i can puke at will just by thinking about eating some. i did shrooms 3 times (3 grams, 5 grams, 6 grams P. cubenis). okay, so maybe i havn't tripped a whole lot, but i am experienced. i said that about the porno thing becasue i noticed i can do that after my last morning glory trip. it is almost like i became numb to it. i might just need to get a new video. the emotion thing is mostly because i have seen some bad shit in my life and have got used to it. also, while on morning glory, i thought a lot about pain. pain is the same as pleasure. see, if you do not pursue pain or pleasure, you will not feel the other. your pleasures cause you pain, your pain can cause you pleasure. experiment. i did not get raped, and i don't watch horror movies or anything like that. i just find most horror movies to not be scary. they just seem pointless to me. maybe i should pursue tripping more. i would love to get some peyote.
EDIT: oh yeah, the first time i tripped was on may 30, 2002 (my 16 birthday). did some shrooms.

Re: more thoughts related to tripping
Attempt at explaining the "bad trip"
My first trip was absolutely horrible. An 1/8th of shrooms was the dosage, but later experiences with shrooms and acid have me almost convinced these fuckers were dipped with some doses. It started out fucking amazing, one of my best trips. They kicked in just as me and my friends were getting into a car to go get my friend some more. INTENSE body sensations, the tripping giggles, colorful trails far superior to any other shroom experience, as we passed by houses some seemed to stretch to keep up with the car, yada yada yada usual crazy trip. When we arrived at the house (after several wrong houses) we walked around dumbfounded past all the windows and doors for a loooonnng time before deciding he wasn't home. Arriving back at the house we were tripping at is when the onset stopped and everything plataued. My mind and body felt torn on just about everything but especially what to do. Imagine the most fidgety guy you know crank up the volume on his excentricness about 100 fold and ya got me.
The whole while just watching the show which was my life. Bad trips seem to make every aspect of reality NOT real merely representations of something. One friend might seem like he represents how you let people take advantage of you, another might seem like he represents your failures and wasted time, another might represent your arrogance or your anger. Either way they don't appear like individuals filled with an infinite individualities, they all just seem to be exagerated representations trying to tell you something. I just kept watching people loop around and around same scene every room I went some hopeless wandering. So I decide to take a breather and go for a walk to the Wa Wa (which is a local 24 hour convenience store). Outside in the 1 am night felt wierd. It's a long street with many trees with branches that form a canopy over the street, kinda legend of sleepy hollow style. On the journey I kept on seeing lights behind me, or car lights that appeared to be turning onto the street, or turning around, it just always kept looking like headlights of a car were turning a corner (this part has been reoccurent in my acid trips). When I finally got to the store after what seemed of an eternity of looking behind me at this imaginary car that was following me (and this is the kicker) THE GOD DAMN 24 HOUR CONVENIENCE STORE IS CLOSED....CLOSED!!! After that I hear deep slow laughter followed imediately by an explosion of cricket sounds, and I get to walk back down the sleepy hollow street more confused then I've ever been with the lights always behind me this time dripping with sweat.
When I get back everybody's gone. Oh they were in the house and everything, but they were GONE. One asked if I was having a bad trip and then said it looked like I was falling into the couch and horns were starting to come from my head.
Side note-Bad Trips worsen seemingly because you honestly believe people can read your thoughts. Not conciously of course, but you hear what you're thinking and merely assume every one else must be on the same page. You don't let people in on the fact that your starting to go a little whacked because you assume they're on the same page as your thoughts, them being the tripping bastards that they are get confused and just walk away laughing-seemingly at you.
I had to leave, I decided to go home an attempt sleep (I laugh at myself for this now.) With eyes closed visual input was minimized therefore mental input was increased 1000 fold. Me already being the philosophical thinker, now under the influence of something that makes ANYBODY a philosophical thinker, my mind was THROWN into an interlocking web of connecting looping thoughts billions at a time all tripping over eachother to be next but all synching together perfectly to make a beautifully schemish big picture. Which normally would be a great awe-inspiring experience, but I thought I stumbled onto forbidden grounds here. Tripping was no longer the hallucinations, not tripping was. I had figured out far too much and had ended the world because of it At this point all the patterns of closed eye visuals and become on big meshed together thing. Some of my vision was a giant wall of binary code 1101001010100101010110101101010 that crap it extended my entire field of closed eye vision vertically. Another part was binary code again but it formed a wall of clown faces laughing. There were quite a few more walls, but those were the big ones, and all these walls seemed to form gear work. They were all on some conveyer belt style movement into through and out of eachother. The loop in my head which consisted of a bunch of sentenced I don't really recall with "which means" or "and then" or "because" or the like at the end of it only to end with "which means the meaning of life is there is no meaning of life HA HA HA HA HA" After a while the sentences started running into eachother at such a tremendous speed that it began to sound like tongues. The whole time my body felt like it was twisted in ways it shouldn't have, like a dead body with all it's bone broken stuck at the bottom of a pit of millions of other dead bodies, and my whole face especially my jaw felt caved in. It felt like I wasn't breathing and didn't even need to breath. But it never failed each time the "HA HA HA" part would come my body would pop back normally my jaw would pop open I'd start to breath then I would start to do it in the opposite direction.
I saw the loops of life and lives within life and the final loop that contains all the loops of life and decided (for some strange reason) the this was near the end of the BIG loop and fealt myself become a great ball of energy and figured I must be the Big Bang.
Looking back on it it's all very very metaphorical, living it it was all very very hellish. So to sum up Bad Trips kind of consist of percieving things as knowing your thoughts, not being "real" but exageratted representations, feeling stuck in eternity, feeling existance and your ego disintigrate. Plus many other indescribable things associated with tripping. Just one of those things were I guess the only word for it really is "whew"

Re: more thoughts related to tripping
yeah, your right. i felt the billions of thoughts at the same time thing. it was overwhelming. every thing was connected and i thought of multiple thought chains that interweaved together and when i looked back on what i was thinking about, i thought it was crazy, but i couldn't remember exactly what it was. i didn't find this bad though, but some thoughts were very disturbing, but it wasn't bad.

Re: more thoughts related to tripping
Weed man, you are not sinking into insanity. You are only "cleansing the doors of perception". From the info I've garnered, you have just started experimenting with hallucinogenics in the grand scheme of things. I might have missed it, but I saw no mention of LSD, mescaline, or any of the myriad of tryptamines(except psilocin and psilocybin) that have psychadellic or hallucinogenic properties.
I believe what you are going through is the same thing many young people experience when they first start experimenting with hallucinogenic substances. You are romanticizing the experience in an attempt to cope with the intensity of the experiences. You have built up an ideal of the effects that you have gleaned from pop culture such as books, tv, and music. Mix those preconcieved notions with a dash of experience, and a healthy pinch of exagerated stories that were told to you by friends, and you get the ideas that you are now having.
Relax, try to have a little fun with your experiences, and most importantly throw out everything you think you know about tripping. That is the only way to really "get it".
