I'm staying clean
Many of ya'll prolly don't know me, I've been a regualar for about a month. I started using drugs at 16 (now 19), but anyways, I decided to stay clean for now on, starting college now in a couple of weeks, it's just time for me to get straight with life. The only thing I'll continue with is drinking socially, but yeah, i know this is all gay n' shit to say, but somehow the feeling that people across the world now know makes my commitement feel stronger. I know many of you don't care, and go ahead feel free to flame or for mods to close thread. Peace out.

Southie;
I,m the guy,the old geez, that would,nt leave you alone about pill theft. I,m glad for you, and I hope your being true to yourself.A suggestion if I may[if not ,disregard],do not try this on your own.From your post, I don't beleive you need a detox or anything so drastic, bot you do need to reconsider the people,places and things, that caused your behavior.Either try an on-line sobriety group, or go to a few AA or NA meetings. Keep an open mind and you'll be surprised.Btw - the poster above has a very valid point, alcohol is the[usually]first drug to lead you to the next, and while lowering your inhibitions,will leave you wide open to old habits. Good Luck & Best Wishes. My e-mail is listed if you ever need to talk sobriety.

I,m so tired of being corrected for my poor usage of puncuation and grammer. If I have a valid point, and it in some way helps someone,that,s enough for me. Please do not try to teach this old dog.

Re: I'm staying clean
Yeah alcohol is defiantly something I should think before drinking if I want to remain clean. Fortunately, I can personally say that Ive always been able to control my drinking, as in Ive never drank for the sole purpose to get drunk. I believe that once you begin abusing alcohol, it does indeed become a very dangerous drug that encourages other drugs to be abused. Ultimately, however, I believe that alcohol can be responsibly consumed at parties or special events (Spring Break, New Years, Ect.) at a responsible proportion (One beer/hour and not to exceed 2 beers/night)
I also want to say that my transition to my new lifestyle will be easier than it potentially could have been. I never abused narcotics, stimulants, or other so-called hard-drugs. I was also able to keep a balance of good friends and bad friends during high school, thus, I was a good student which resulted in my acceptance to a great college which will undoubtedly motivate my to stay clean. My goals now are to excel in college to eventually get a great job and settle down to raise a happy family. My drug history consisted of mainly weed, among some others including DXM, salvia, ect, but I feel no addictions, mentally, or physically, whatsoever at this time (two week after being sober).
But yeah, I wanna say thanks to all you guys for support and concern.

Yeah man, sorry for initiating the pill conflict a while back.
Your advice to not do this alone is 100% true. I have indeed attended NA and AA meetings, and the support of my family and friends will definatly contribut to my success in this. Thanks for all your help and concern and I wish best of luck in helping many more, and if I ever feel the need to email you for help, I surly will not hesitate to do so, thanks a lot.

Re: I'm staying clean
Drugs are used mainly as a temporary means of escape. Escape from pain(physical & emotional), boredom, or in my case, reality and loneliness(who needs companionship when one has the drugs to play with?).

Re: I'm staying clean
Good luck... I literally can't stay sober, the fucking medication I'm on (seroquel and lithium, on alternating days, with thorazine every night) messes me up and I'm under constant monitoring by the hospital. (Tried to kill someone a year ago when I wasn't in my own mind, psychotic and multiple personality disorder, no need for further explaination!)

when you can do something and stick with it- i'm all for it, especially when it's something healthy.
good job, don't get sloppy.

drug abuse is a temporary means of escape [or a pitiful try at that].
drugs are a part of life.
