Default Shroom hunting..

Alright folks, I've been lurking around here for a while. I just never really posted, so this is my hello.

Hello.

Now, on to business we go. I'm in the deep south, lower alabama/north florida area. I plan on going shrooming tonight, as we have just had a marvelous rain storm. I'm just looking for any tips/suggestions from anyone experinced. I don't know of any sure shot locations yet, but I definitely can find some farms. What time of night should I go? Should I just pick what I find and identify good from bad later? How about where to park my car?

Any help is appreciated

You make it sound like picking mushrooms is illegal.

did i mention that "I plan to go shrooming" would be referring to nothing but a research project, something I plan to write about, a nice dream of mine.

No, picking mushrooms isn't illegal, but trespassing is. A farmer will stick a nice salt pellet up your ass.

Depending on your age, a good ploy is to directly approach the propety owner with some official looking papers[generated on your comp.,] stating you are a student of Mycology,on a feild trip, and are willing to pay for access to his property for parking puposes, and will not approach his cattle or disturb any other livestock. All they can say is no,and at least ONE will agree.BTDT.

*cringe*

be very careful when picking shrooms...

if you don't know what you're doing [and very confidant] you can kill yourself.

pick them all, placing different kinds into different bags, so as not to contaminate good shrooms with poisonous shrooms. identify them at home, which is, in my opinion, easier than field identification. www.shroomery.org (http://www.shroomery.org) has some great tips.
