Should I take Zoloft?
I'm being told to take Zoloft, but I dont think I want to. I have been on Wellbutrin for quite some time and I didnt realize for a while but it made me feel 'neutral'. Like it restriced my emotions; it would stop me from feeling too depressed about things, but it wouldnt let me be as happy as I could be. Also, now that Im off meds, I'm acting more crazy and spontainious and having more fun. And I dont have to analyze every goddamn thing; I'm not constantly thinking about everything.
So the only reason I take meds is so I can handle school (I fucking HATE school). I dont ever want to feel different, like I did on wellbutrin, again. I want to feel like me. Wellbutrin had a strange affect on me that changed how I acted.
Anyway, do you think I should take Zoloft?

Re: Should I take Zoloft?
Yes. Zoloft is an SSRI similar to wellbutrin but it does not have all of the stimulating/wierd effects as wellbutrin does. Zoloft calms you down, helps with depression and anxiety.

Re: Should I take Zoloft?
no take 5htp and ginseng they have less side effects and are antidepressants otc herbal supplements with other uses like fighting cancer, heart disease protection, increased energy etc. your not supposed to take with protein food so take it and wait around an hour, or about 4 hours after a protein filled meal. st johns wort and gingko balboa are good too. kava kava, valerian, chamomile, and a variety of other drugs help with anxiety more.
zoloft will make you feel like wellbutrin
an alternative is to break your fingers or arm/leg whatever and get painkillers from the doctor, i did this last year in school taking hydrocodone and got through it fine. drinking helps too at school, plus taking a couple dramamine and saying your sick and crashing through classes works.

yes i also agree, for me at least taking the herbal supplements always helped more then a synthetic ssri. green tea, ginseng, and st. johns wort worked wonders when i didnt want to feel like shit and be depressed.

Re: Should I take Zoloft?
From what I've read (which is quite a bit) on the subject, SSRIS LIKE ZOLOFT ARE ACTUALLY WORSE THAN BUPROPION! I've seen evidence presented that ssris are no better than placebo, and actually might cause psychosis or even more severe depression.
I'm depressed alot....my solution is to use drugs twice a week to remind myself that life is fun. Anything that you have to take every day is not worth it, IMO. You will gain tolerance and you will experience withdrawal no matter WHAT DRUGS you choose to medicate yourself with on a daily basis.

Re: Should I take Zoloft?
Oh yeah, the Dr. also told me to stop smoking pot. "Thats probably why your not motivated" I've never been fucking motivated, unless I had a good reason. I dont think a pill can change that.

umm, no. a lot of drugs have side eefects but not all drugs, make you go through withdrawals, pot...nothing for me.... st. johns wort..nata... your in the wrong train of thought man, you need to think positive. shit im fucked up right now..sorry if this made no sense.

Re: Should I take Zoloft?
I've had no problems at all on Welbutrin. It makes me feel a lot more content about life and whatnot. It hasn't interfered at all with feeling happy for me.

OH HELL-FUCKING NO!!!!!!!!!
THAT SHIT MADE ME PSYCHOTIC AND TRIED TO KILL MY WIFE, THEN TOOK EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING IN THE HOUSE TO KILL MYSELF AFTERWORDS!!!
I'm by nature an extremely non-violent person.
I don't know where - or if - I'd be today,or what would have happened had not the neighbors heard our daughter screaming and came in time to pull me off

Re: Should I take Zoloft?
I read, as stated by a previous poster, that most ssri,s major effect was placebo, and this from JAMA. Again, I don't beleive all that I read, but I DO believe what I experience, and getting off of all of that type of drug[ they had me try up to 6 before I said "fuck it", and just toughed it out. Do not isolate, it,s one of the worst things you can do! Also, keep your self occupied with work[do not become a workaholic], hobbies, whatever it takes to keep your self from dwelling on your problems. A good kick in the ass is to volunteer at a hospital; it,s amazing how much better you can feel when you see, first hand, some of the problems of others, and they are coping. Just my opinion.

Re: Should I take Zoloft?
Really, Meta?
I've read about that with other SSRIs, such as Paxil.
And I was on a year's probabtion from a psychotic break while on Paxil...

Re: Should I take Zoloft?
SSRI are the devil's drug. I took ONE dose of Celexa, and ended up having two distonic reactions. One happened two days after I took the dose. I smashed my stereo during one episode. During the next I stabbed the wall with a metal nail file. Sliced my finger open a good one. I had to get a couple stitches.

Re: Should I take Zoloft?
Well Im just going to try it anyway. My dad is a smart fellow, is a dr. and has been dealing with people that take these types of medicine (including himself and my mom) for years. Im going to try it for a month, and then I get to decide wether or not I want on it.
Thanks

Re: Should I take Zoloft?
All the SSRIs are slightly different, i've tried prozac, effexor, and celexa as well as wellbutrin. Prozac just made me high all the time, it was great until it stopped working after a month or so. Effexor made me edgy and pissed off after 1 dose. Celexa didn't make me as high but it made me content with my life the way it was, it also changed my thoughts and made me think alot more positively, but I stopped it because I realized it was making me act pretty weird. I was way too happy, and it was totally fake. Wellbutrin barely did anything. I don't take anti depressants on a regular basis anymore, i'll just pop one when i'm feeling really down to take the edge off.

Re: Should I take Zoloft?
Zoloft works almost entirely on serotonin.
Wellbutrin works more on dopamine and norepinepherine.
Paxil can cause psychotic episodes.
I heard Celexa is like being on coke.
But anyway don't smoke pot while you're on Zoloft or any SSRIs. Its like taking an anti-SSRI.
