Greetings, my drug-frenzied acolytes! I bring you a vision of things to come.

I, in my infinite spiffyness, would like to tentatively announce the first and most righteous BLTC contest! You (that's right- you will have the chance to win fabulous prizes! Well, maybe not fabulous. But you can get shit.

Those of you with any short-term memory left will note the "tentative" condition of the above paragraph. You see, I haven't finalized anything yet. I've given it some thought for some time now, and I thought I'd leave some of the final tweaks to you folks.

The main quandary is this- would you prefer one ultra-neato grand prize, or several comparably chintzy prizes? I'm financing this out-of-pocket, you know, and I'm a rather cheap person. Should you have a really good idea for a [legal] prize, include that as well. (Though I've got an idea that I think will work quite well )

I'm also unsure as to the proper length. One week seems about right, but please tell me if you think something else would be better.

I welcome any and all comments (of a constructive nature, that is) from my fellow mods, fellow members, and the occasional moron typing with his toes.

May I ask what this contest involves? Also, I would prefer, several prizes I guess,that will help to prevent any suicides caused by one person winning the only prize(it will happen trust me). Also, what is the purpose of this, were you just bored or what? I think a fresh new pipe or something of the sort would make a great prize, maybe some free rolling papers, a bob marley cd, but those are all pothead prizes, i'm sure some other people can think of better ones.

Several, smaller prizes! Show the lottery people how a competition should be. Anyway. Sounds fun, keep us posted.

I'm all for it man. It should be based around knowledge though, not just random luck of the draw.

i agree with kronikus, and i think there should be a few smaller prizes, 1 grand prize winner always pisses the people off that dont get it and they get some chintzy thing . so 10 small things is alot better than 1 big thing and 2 pos's .

well...whatever the contest may be, im all up for it. I think smaller prizes is better than just 1 big grand prize.

Im pretty sure almost everyone here smokes pot, so giving away stoner stuff shouldnt be a problem. Maybe a few pipes as the lesser prizes and a bong for 1st place? Sounds good to me...

We should have a contest with several divisions (drug types...) The prizes for each could be related to that division's subject. You know, I don't know how a person could become a winner (would the contest involve posting information or thoughts or both, etc. of the appropriate nature?) but I'm I will find out.

The prizes could be a little more specific, and instead of just being dull and inanimate, they should be kind of interactive. Instead of giving a movie or CD or some old thing like that, the winner of the psychedelics division could recieve a box of blacklight-reactive paints with brushes or something like that. Tools that can can be utilized when drugs are fueling creativity. For those fun times when you actually feel like being productive!

yeah the smaller prizes would be cool , but would the grand prize included any reasearch chemical of any kind or salvia because i cant get ahold or any chems and i have to wait until my birthday to get the salvia so winning them for free would be awsome. Another question who is restrcted from competeing in this contest? should there be a limit to only the people who joined at a certain time (the older members), or how many/much posts and info they have givin. oh well sound interesting none the least.

Holy shit, if it were like a jeopardy thing and there was a datura category, I'd kick the shit out of everyone! On a side note though, anyone who would do something like this and put a datura topic in it, has got problems.

Maybe some various legal highs? A few doses of a research chem for first. Some salvia for second. Some HBWR seeds for third. Of course, that could get pricey for you unless you already have that stuff around.

I'm excited about this contest though. Maybe I can prove to my mom that sitting on the computer reading about drugs all day is good for something...

Will the contest be open for everyone, or restricted to those who live in the USA & Canada?

Some legal substances such as salvia, or research chems would be nice for the grand prize?

yeah the tikhal or pikhal or something would be cool but i would much rather experience them, then to read about them.

well i dont think the prize should be any type of high.i agree with someone who said this before the winners should get some toys decorations of some sort or maybe some cds or movies.i definitely dont think the winners should get anything to do with a specific drug(ie bongs pipes paper)because i know i might be one of the few,if any, that checks this site out and has been clean and sober for almost 2 years.which gives me another idea. books?

First off, I'm not mailing out drugs, legal or not. No salvia (what if an Aussie won?), no tryptamines (as I'd rather keep them to myself ), etc.

Second, I certainly wasn't planning on a sweepstakes type thing. Those are boring. It will definitely be a test of skill, though a drug quiz isn't what I have in mind. I'm thinking more of a creative writing assignment . That involves judges, of course, but I've got a plan for that, too.

I'll go with multiple prizes, then. You've certainly made that clear. Nothing blatantly drug-related, though. No bongs, papers, crack pipes, needles, things like that. Something unusual, maybe.

It'll be open to everyone, except for me. I think.

I think the idea on an actual bound copy Tihkal or Pihkal is really amazing. Hmm. . .creative writing eh? Ok I'm ready. Tell us some rules and set us free.

The problem with a drug quiz is that everyone could just get the answers off of the internet. The only thing it would test is your speed at google.

I think there should be a lot of cheap prizes rather than one big one. Maybe your first place winner gets their choice of prize, second place gets second choice, and so on until you run out of prizes. That way, there's still a good reason to come in first.

I think first place should get a nice big Bong. Or a hookah. Yea hookah would be awesome.

Well since there have been a lot of different ideas as for the prize maybe like a choice of prizes, like you could choose 5 things, focusing on legal items like a book, DVD, any random thing like that, or id be interested in something strange, i like weird shit. But its up to Theta. But no drugs as was earlier stated (especially illegal drugs, and even legal ones) as much as id like to get drugs, i wouldnt want someone else to get in trouble. But Ive only used my salvia as incense, it smelled really good too . And too make sure people get what they want, if you were to include say a DVD, you could let the winner decide what movie they like. Oh and I like the creative writing idea a lot, I love writing.

I think TIHKAL, PIHKAL, or a Physician's Desk Reference would make a good prize, just a suggestion.

seeds of various sorts (papaver somniferum, salvia, HBWR, Morning Glory, etc.) - Not too costy and the winner would have to grow something (except with the WBWR and such)

A scale - this item would be great for whatever drug you're into

i like the sound of this. but i certainly understand why the prizes will not be drugs, legal or illegal, or parephenalia. so quit saying you want bongs, theta said no. personally i think the signed copies of tihkal and pihkal that erowid offers with like a $150 donation would be great, but that may be a little much for theta to spend on something like this.
