Re: songs you wallow in pity to.
I'm not in misery at the moment, but Yesterday by the Beatles is a great lost-love song.
I cried when my first gf broke up with me and I listened to this song.

I try not to wallow. Post breakup, I listen to more uplifting stuff. Or more stuff with a theme of "man, that was fucking shit, but I'm a hardcore motherfucker who'll survive".

I personally can't get through Patience by Guns and Roses. That was played at one of my better friends funerals in High School as they were lowering her coffin into the ground. On the night of the crash, I was supposed to drive her home, but she wanted to stay longer, and she drove home with another guy who crashed...... That was one of the defining moments in my life....
Other than that:
*James Blunt - Goodbye My Lover (it's just a sad song),
*Elton John - Candle in the wind (The Dianna version),
*U2 - With or Without You (my wedding waltz).

Ohh yeah i know that. I mean it's just something that you might as well do. Get a cry or two out and then man up and start talking to the girls you only talked to "a little" while you weren't single, alot more. I mean i have Kotton Mouth Kings on now and i've never really heard anything by them that makes me cry.
What music do you use to get over a break up rabbitweed.

anything by radiohead, and the pinkerton album by weezer. All my breakup music with my ex, not because all of it's depressing but because that's what he was listening to in the last couple weeks of our love.

Re: songs you wallow in pity to.
Now, when yous gets broken up with, you listens to the blues. You takes a bottle of somethin', no matter what, whisky, vodka, even a couple bottles of wine and you drinks it slow and you listens to the blues. Anyone at all can do it, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Robert Johnson - even Sun House - J.B Lenoir, Lightnin' Hopkins, Albert King - they all good. Or you puts on some Nina Simone. Hell, even some Hank Williams would do it. Anything old and slow and melancholy where the voices sound real, that's what you listen to through a heartbreak.

That is one of the most depressing songs I have ever listened to. If I am depressed and drinking. That is a song I avoid at all costs.
*shudders*
But if I listen to it when everything is good. Its all gravy lol.

But also whoever said blues and older country is right. A bottle of vodka/case of beer/whatever, and some Hank Williams Sr, Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker. etc.. is all it takes for a self loathing party.

Yesterday by the beatles is cool for basically anything. Burden in my hand for depressed drinking. The drugs dont work for depression because of worries over drug use. Far away if your depressed cause you miss someone you love. Photographs if you miss some old friends. I got a few more but thats the main ones.
