he killed my pet
So last night my husband and I got into a fight and he KILLED MY PET SLUG. I know some of you might think a slug is a dumb pet, but I really liked it...I had caught it when it was a baby and kept it these past few months in a terranium. This morning when I looked for it, it was gone. I think my husband fed it to my tarantula, but he might've poured salt on it.
So how would you guys handle this?

Re: he killed my pet
That's vindictive, fucked up, and scary.
The point is not the slug. The point is he KILLED something that was once LIVING, that gave you amusement and pleasure to look after, feed, watch etc. Plus you raised it for the few months you've had it.
That is extremely fucked up, but Xiao, the reason I often don't reply to your threads is because you're married to the man that is the father of your baby. And any practical advice I could've given you over the past year or so that you've been on totse, you wouldn't have listened to anyway. Your emotional involvement in your situation is the only thing that will make you stay and eventually (hopefully for the sake of your child) leave.
The most he's going to suffer from doing this is, I dunno, an under-cooked dinner, maybe some burnt toast. This is, by no means an attack on you. But you have to start sticking up for yourself to him, if you don't learn this now, what are you going to do when he starts treating your child like he treats you (which is almost 100% guaranteed). And do you really think this is where is stops? You haven't even seen the beginning of it and you've been married to him for... 5 years? It will get worse as time goes on. He's definitely not going to get any nicer.
I do not see this marriage ending happily in old age.

Treat that slug as if it were your own child: MURDER Mr. MEI! MUAHAHAHA...

I think the fact he killed something you love to be vindictive is the horrible part. If my boyfriend killed my dog because we got into a fight I don't think I'd be able to look at him again.

It is a dumbass pet. But thats besides the point. Theres something seriously wrong with him if he'd kill your pet just because he's angry at you. And now that I think about it, it does seem kind of cute. I want a slug

It will take him a few years to build up to that.I hope you get out before then.

Maybe he didn't kill it? Unless you have proof and have asked him. Maybe it ran away or died of natural causes and he removed the dead slug.

Maybe I am the only one who thinks that such living things should not be taken out of their natural habitat? After all, they are not domesticated.
Hopefully it got the chance to reproduce first. Maybe you'll find little one some day soon.
But it sounds like you're only speculating as to what happend to the little fella. Ask your hubby, you could be overreacting.

Ah...well, you got your answer to that. Now you have to solve the mystery of the missing slug.
I had a crab crawl out of my aquarium one day. It was weeks before the carcass was found. He made it all the way to the kitchen. Poor little fella.

My first reaction was "oh dear, sounds like a dodgy one"
But really.. I think it was sort of more like him reverting to when he was an 8 year old brat.
This is the first time I remember you ever having any sort of real embitteredness with your husband, so I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon of eventully you'll leave your husband.
In fact to my memory, it was a fairly happy marriage, one which I admired.
I think you'll probably work through it, so just talk to him about it..
As punishment make him raise a slug for you.

I posted it here because it has to do with my HUSBAND killing my pet. And as I posted earier, he talked about killing it all of the time.
So yesterday I looked for another slug and couldn't find any...But I did find a giant earthworm for my herb garden. I like earthworms, but you can't keep them as pets because they need more room to tunnel.

Hmm actually its 'Sex' (you know, that stuff you haven't had yet but all your friends have?) AND Affection' (which we take to mean covering the whole rainbow of human social intercourse).
Yes this could also have gone in the pet forum but Xiao is a regular who posts openly and often about her marriage and so it's of interest to us.

Re: he killed my pet
If the slug escaped, you could find it easily by following a trail of slime.
But there is no trail of slime is there?
Your marriage is doomed.

You forgot to add that the people that post in this forum (Sex and Affection), are actually quite mature, and don't make crap posts (majority of the time).

Shut the fuck up, She has no proofs, only "suspicion" that he MIGHT have killed it. And what the hell are you talking about, anyway? Because of ONE incident that MIGHT have happened, you're talking about how he's gonna ruin her life and of her baby. Get the fuck out.

Sounds like you need to grow the fuck up, along with your husband.

Lol, kidnap!
Anyways, Xiao, you should consider the chance the critter is gone all by itself. It either died and dissolved (need backup on post-mortis liquification) or it managed to escape.
Why am I saying this? Since I've not been following totse for a year almost, and from your post, I understand that your marriage is falling apart. So imagine how far will fall if in the end the goddamn slug is alive/away and you blamed it to your husband, getting in exchange one more reason for him to hate your paranoid guts.
In the other hand, if he has truly done that... Well, I don't know what to say...
Other than buy him his most expensive choice of pet and kill it in front of him (this is posted for the giggles, I do NOT condonce animal suffering... I had to curbstomp my hamster last month because the poor critter was agonizing after it lost one eye. Still makes me puke).
"Darling! I bought you a parrot!"
"Oh Really?!"
"YARLY!!" *thwack!* "But parrot no moe! JUST LIKE MY SLUG YOU PICE OF HEARTLESS BASTARD!" (this while holding dead parrot in one hand, and mentioned parrot's head in the other.

Re: he killed my pet
My marraige isn't falling apart...To be honest, I don't know why some of the people on here seem to think my husband is some kind of an abusive psycho! I only posted this because I truly didn't know how to react when I thought he killed my pet. He told me he never harmed the slug, though, and I believe him.
I'm really rather baffled...I always think I'm posting NICE things about my husband....

Ignore them, some people are just cynical when it comes to relationships. They've probably had some bad relationships in the past and mistake your life for their own.

What the fuck?
Something so trivial doesn't deserve this much attention, fucking ridiculous.
I can't think of anything else to say.

I'm sure your relationship with your husband is fine. You've never given me the impression that there was anything wrong, to the extent everyone is trying for, in the relationship.
As for the slug, are you sure you looked in the cage well enough? Was the top secured well enough? Did you ask your daughter what could've happened?
Also: I once had a pet armadillo that I found and domesticated. I understand that whole 'strange pet thing.
