She just threw in that line to see what your reaction was going to be like. You got all upset and stuff, so she instantly knew that a) you liked her, and b) you don't know how to handle yourself around women.

You should have come back with something funny (like - "Hey! mabey your boyfriend would like to hook up with my girlfriend sometime"), or just glossed over the fact she had a boyfriend. Women are funny creatures. Their minds work in a different way to men. Trust me on that - I have been married for almost 8 years now, and I still don't understand how they work.
