Default Jealousy.

It's like a fucking sponge that soaks up your sanity.

Post any advice on how to rid myself of said jealousy, besides getting so drunk I forget what my adress is.

think positive thoughts. when you have a jealous thought, examine it logically and tell yourself it's useless. do this every time you have a jealous thought until they come less and less often.

Why don't you purify yourself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka?

Don't smoke weed; it'll make you more paranoid and apt to believe entirely implausible situations that your jealous mind makes up. Trust me on this one.

I think the key is finding a person to have a relationship with who you can FUCKING trust. If you trust the person JEALOUSY is not an issue. I am more than willing to discuss this further if you want to.

I agree whole-heartedly with that. However, I do trust her is the thing. Yet the jealousy/paranoia always seems to creep up on me.

I'm deep, DEEP in love with this girl. We'd known eachother for 5 years prior, and we just feel in love over last summer. It was mutual, it was the oddest thing. We just looked at eachother one day and we both knew immediately what we were gonna say, and the words came out.

That being said, I'd never experienced anything like this. I'm scared shitless somethign will happen, she'll meet a better guy, she'll see one of her exs and just go back to him. It drives me insane, I haven't eaten or slept in three days. Minus the liquor.

I'm ahead of you on that one dude. I only do the occasional bump of coke or the occasional hit on the ol' crack pipe now.

Jealousy will destroy any good relationships you might have in life. Trust me on this, it happened to me.

The key is to hold it all in. ALL OF IT. Don't ever appear outwardly jealous. You might not be able to stop your jealousy, but you can keep your woman from knowing it, and THAT in the end is what pisses them off and ultimately leads to them doing exactly what you feared.

Do ANYTHING EXCEPT think about that's making you jealous.

Seriously man you find yourself feeling that way, fucking put on a game or... fuck it's videogames that do it for me, but a book or a fucking... draw something? WHATEVER does it for you okay?

Find that one thing that takes your mind off shit.

I don't know honey, I just go with it these days. If I say something, it's like a cleansing thing for me. If I don't, it gets bottled up inside and that explosion is very nasty.

It really depends though on the personality of your mate.

(Plus...he gets jealous too...that puzzles me since I'm a bit older than he...)

Jealousy is chiseling away my soul right now as well. It's kinda nice knowing I'm not the only one who's in this pit of absolute despair.

Working seems to dull the pain, but alcohol is the be all and end all.

That's fucking scary. I was just on that lake a week ago. I wasn't aware that it had healing properties

So you're saying if I don't look jealous, she'll screw the guy I hate that she hangs out with?

I just can't let it go though. If I don't say a sarcastic comment or whatever I just like...don't talk for the rest of the day.

Oh man, same fucking problem here. Knew her for two years, fell in love a year ago, and we're still goin' strong. But... I am so insecure. I'm scared shitless of something happening to the relationship. I worry she'll find someone better, or stop loving me, or I'll be boring, or... It's torture. Like you said, I've never had anything like this before.

I used to be just like you. Paranoia and jealousy ate away at me. She talked to another guy? She didn't respond immediately to me? Anything small like that, and I'd feel hurt and angry. It was horrible.

The good news is that I got better. Bad news is that I'm not sure exactly how. I'll list some things I think might help:

1.) Growing older. I don't know how old you are, but from age 16 to age 17 my emotions stabilized a good deal.

2.) Relationship growing older. The longer I know her, the more I trust her. The more I realize she's not going to just suddenly dump me.

3.) Every time I got mad or hurt or jealous, I'd pause and think to myself. I'd think of how much I love her, and how much she loves me. "I love this girl, and she loves me. Why am I being so irrational and destructive? Is this thought reasonable? Is this worth losing our relationship over?"

4.) Waiting. When you first feel the feelings, don't show them. Just push them away and wait a while. Chances are, they will die down and you will see more clearly. If not, you can then discuss it with her (but calmly).

but what if it is justified? Like (hypothetically speaking, of course) what if your boyfriend refuses to get you anything for valentine’s day, but gets a girl that he tried to get with before you two were together a card for her birthday 2 weeks later? He can’t be bothered getting me anything, but he can get her something?
