Im pretty distraught just got outa a relationship with my gal who I had been with for about a year and 10 months. You lot are a bit more mature than Spurious so I came to you first! Any advice? Stories you wanna share about splitting up after a long-term relationship? Any support would be cool.

Don't be daft and close yourself off. That's what some guys do, and it's not good, you have to keep family and friends around a lot. They can talk to you about it, cheer you up. And hell, even some non-gay MAN LOVE is appropriate!

That's like, half the battle. The rest is an emotional drain. I suggest learning relaxation, and drinking a lot of water, this kinda lightens the numb feeling.

And above all else, time will help.

I broke up with a girl i was with for a year about.... 4 months ago.

The best thing you can do is spend as much of your free time as you possibly can with your friends, keeping busy with things helps, try not to spend to much time thinking (although of course this is inevitable)

And as said above, MAN LOVE is a must!

don't start doing drugs. get out, socialize a lot, flirt, hang out with your friends. don't stay in the shell, that's very bad.

My girlfriend of 7 years broke up with me just before Thanksgiving this past year. Not only that, but I had to move back home because I was living with her.

It was really painful and confusing at first, but I just kept going out with my friends.. made some new ones. Tried not to think about it really. Then one night when I was thinking about her, I just did a mental review of our relationship and realized that it wasn't worth obsessing over. After that I was able to open up to other girls.

Things are really going great now. I have a new girlfriend, my job prospects are looking up, and I am just generally happy. Looking to get a new apartment soon as well (currently living with my brother.. but it's like the Odd Couple).

Just don't sit around alone. That's when the depression always kicks in and fucks you.

Heh, I like the way I handled it when my girlfriend of 36 months broke up with me.

I was really down for a month, forced myself to tell my parents (I'm have a lot of pride in me), talked and hung out with some friends. Then, I said fuck this shit, turned around and joined the Navy, because when we were datin, joinin the military wasnt an option!

So damnit!
