Leaving for military
I leave for air force basic training in 11 days. Iv will have been with my current girlfriend 8 months march 8th. I love her and I know she deeply cares for me. Im so confused about what to do with the relationship. I know theres a chance I could be based in Europe and what not and be away from her long ammounts of time. Im merely 19 and I know Im going to have the opportunity to see the world if I want to.. but I feel tied down with her. I know if I wasnt leaving wed stay together and eventually get married.

Re: Leaving for military
I leave for Basic in 6 days. If I had someone, I would let them go. Can you really trust a woman to stay faithful while you are gone for that long? If you can, I'm sure you can have her stationed with you close to base if you go overseas. But I would really just let her go.. Think about it.. If you go to Europe, you can find a EUROPEAN hotty to date, really think about that.... Europe has the best women in the world, friend! Plus you will be worried about her while you are gone, is she ok, how many penises does she have in her right now, etc etc.

This says more about the calibre of guys that join the military...ie idiots who pick dipshit whore girlfriends.
Seeing as the OP can type coheren sentences in english I can tell by that alone that he's smarter than most military people and there's a high chance he has a decent GF...

Branch? Navy?
Oh btw! Neenjah! Your fucked!! Most military relationships do not last. I was talking to an E4 and an E5 who said 85% of all military marriages fail in the first year.
Break up with her now before shes boning your bestfriend, and you get that letter that says "Hey! Guess what! I'm boning ____! See!" (has pictures and everything in letter) Another good reason to break up with her is cause you "feel tied down"
If you get to McDill Air Force Base, come find me. (its a joint command in Tampa.)

It's not that they're whores. Ever heard of "Out of sight, out of mind"?
I'd know, my girlfriend did the same shit when I went to boot camp. And I got stationed in the states, there was no excuse for it. I'd say most women are the same too.

Honestly, I've had several girlfriends before and I am very in touch with my feelings. Shes unlike any girl I've ever been with. Shes quiet, reserved and conservative. She was raised very strictly and I believe 99% would never cheat. I took her virginity for gods sake and that took a while to get lol..
But they say the ones you trust the most cheat on you as well.

You got fucked, get out while you can.
You aren't committed to anything until you get on that bus to go to bootcamp. No matter how many forms you sign, it's all bullshit until you actually GO.
Don't listen to recruiters, they'll straight up lie and tell you you're going to prison, and they're full of shit.
I know this for a fact, I'm ex-Navy.

It takes all kinds to join the different branches. Since I've done 4 years in the Navy, I'd go Army if I ever decided to do it again, just something different.

Re: Leaving for military
I ditched my girl before I left for Army basic. We had a pretty decent relationship, but I knew I would be moving away, probably getting deployed, and I dont do long distance relationships. She pretty much understood.
The Airforce recruiter was a dick to me. He basically acted as if he had no time to even talk to me... That is until he looked at my test scores and somehow got my number to beg for me to come back... I informed him that he was too late and I had already joined the Army as a Scout. Shipped out to Fort Knox a week later. That was more than a year ago. Now im in Iraq.
Alot of guys at basic, and over here have gotten the "I cant do this anymore / im cheating on you" letter. They were obviously pretty torn up about it.
If you are pretty sure she will remain faithful, and you want to continue the relationship, then go for it. If its something you feel you could do without while going through the stress of basic, and adjusting to a new life style, then break it off... at least for now.

Re: Leaving for military
I understand what you're saying. Its just I've never seen a woman so sensible about things. She tells me how much she loves me like 6 times a day. I don't think I could handle seeing her cry or hurt because of me. I would much rather get a letter in the mail or phone call later on saying she couldn't handle it, or that she was cheating.

neenjah, think how it would (will) feel if (when) you get that letter saying she is cheating, or doesnt want you anymore. you will be hundreds or thousands of miles away, probably cant get ahold of her... it will tear you up and you cant do anything about it, you cant talk it out, etc.

Air Force is pretty safe. Promotion is gonna suck for you though. Granted as much as all the serviceman will call you a pussy for joining the Air Force, they tend to shrug it off and tell us "Eh, we live better than you"
Here's another pro.
Which Service Has the Smartest Enlisted Force?
There is no doubt at all that, of all the Services, the Air Force has the most intelligent enlisted people. This is not just opinion, it's provable fact:
Take the Army, for instance. When the stuff hits the fan, the young Army private wakes up from a bellow from the First Sergeant. He grabs a set of BDUs out of his foot locker, gets dressed, runs down to the chow-hall for a breakfast on the run, then jumps in his tank. Pretty soon, the Platoon Commander arrives, gives him a big salute, and says, "Give 'em Hell, men."
Now take the Marines. When the stuff hits the fan, the young Marine recruit is kicked out of bed by his First Sergeant, puts on a muddy set of BDUs because he just got back in from the field three hours before. He gets no breakfast, but is told to feel free to chew on his boots. He runs out and forms up with his rifle. Pretty soon, his platoon commander comes out, a young Captain, Gives his Marines a Sharp Salute, and says, "Give 'em Hell, Marines!"
Now take the Navy. When the stuff hits the fan, the young Sailor is eating breakfast in the messroom.. He walks 20 feet to his battle station, stuffing extra pastries in his pocket as he goes. There he sits, in the middle of a steel target, with nowhere to run, when the Captain comes on the 1MC and says, "Give 'em Hell, Sailors! I salute you!"
Now the Air Force. When the stuff hits the fan, the Airman receives a phone call in his off-base quarters. He gets up, showers, shaves, and puts on a fresh uniform he had just picked up from the BX cleaners the day before. He jumps in his car, and stops at McDonalds for a McMuffin on his way into work. Once he arrives at work, he signs in on the duty roster and proceeds to his F-16. He spends 30 minutes pre-flighting it, signs off the forms. Pretty soon the Pilot, a young captain gets out and straps into the Plane. He starts the engines. Our Young Airman stands at attention, gives the Captain a sharp salute, and says, "Give 'em Hell, Sir!"

It comes down to what is more important to you - your career in the military, or your relationship with her.
If it's the military, then you probably should break it off - it's not fair to her to make her wait like that, and there's a good chance something will end up happening that ends the relationship before you get back.
If your relationship is more important, then forget the military, and stick with her. For a relationship as serious as yours sounds, there really isn't any middle ground. it's one or the other...
But as a side note, i had the same decision to make, between the Rangers and my girl. needless to say, i realized that the rangers was just something i wanted, and she was something i needed. i have to say, it was probably the smartest decision i've made in a long time.

Re: Leaving for military
If you have a relationshop and you are about to enter the armed forces or militry then you shouldnt enter with attachments aka girlfriends/ boyfriends. It makes you more liable to make a mistake when under pressure as you want to get out more. If there wasnt cheese ona mouse-trap the mouse wouldnt die, so basically the girl would distract you in your line of duty. i say ditch her, say its for the best, and that you love her... etc... then when you get leave get back with her, or what ever makes you feel comfortable.

What're they giving it to you for? And if the Navy will take "Prison or Military" convicts, do you really want to be there. USN doesn't give a rat's ass about you, and unless you're IT or got a boner for your line of work, it's gonna suck.
That 20K is taxable, and you don't get it all like a normal bonus. You get half after A-School, then you get the deducted rest over the course of your enlistment. All the deductions and entitlements make your LES (paystubs) hard to read.
And if you get kicked out before you're obligation is over, you have to pay it back.

You know your shit. In the marines we almost never get the bonus they promise us and for the regular pay theres times they fuck up and forget to pay us. It happened to me for 4 months straight.

Your hysterical. You'll learn mighty quick how wrong you are. Boot Camp will take care of those delussions.
The fact of the matter is a couple of us who're posting are current/former military, and we've seen the shit. My Aunt, an AOC hates fillipino women because they'll marry ya, and as soon as you go out to sea fuck the first person they see. One of my friends girlfriend broke up with him during boot. Another one of my shipmates, right in the middle of the hardest block of instruction, her fiancee called it off. Another one, his wife filed for divorce and so during school he was trying to keep custody of his kid.
Face it man, we aint trying to rag on you or anything, but we're simply telling you the truth. Military relationships are just as shaky as Hollywood. You got married men hittin up hookers in shit while out to sea and everything. Your a mobile man once your ass gets to boot. Sure, they got orders for you with the job you want, and so when you think you nabbed yourself a cushion tour of Hawaii, they can easily turn around and say "Hey! Your going to the Shitty Kitty" (And thats when you hear a NOOOOOOOOOOO! that spans the globe)

Just an update....
My TC (truck commander) found out today, that his wife wants a divorce. Talk about distraction! He was soo fucked up on mission today. I had to make all the calls on the truck, while he sulked around.
This is the second time hes been divorced, by the same woman, both while in Iraq.
Then again, you are going into the Airforce, Im not sure but don't they deploy for 6 months at a time?
If you had planned it better, and you are serious about getting married to her, you should have done it before basic. Alot of guys got married to girls before they left, and surprisingly, about %90 that i know of are still together, no problems. The only ones having problems are the ones that got married right before we left for Iraq.
