Cars and social lives
I was just wondering something today. It doesn't make sense to be in a relationship if you don't have a car. It seems impossible to see each other except in school. Not having a car also means that you have to get rides all the time if you want to go to parties out of your own neighborhood. So my question is, has your social life been changed greatly after obtaining a vehicle? What was it like before and after you could drive?

Re: Cars and social lives
I drove illegally with out a license for like half a year.
So getting my license changed nothing, except that I went to clubs instead of parties.
I got a lot more pussy at parties, because music is quieter and it's all about personality. At clubs it's loud as fuck, and a lot more fake.
I also did a lot more drugs, because I could drive to my dealers.

Re: Cars and social lives
Socially, nothing has changed. Nothing before and nothing after.
Then again, the paint sucked back then and now its bright green like the proverbial nuclear waste, but its not put back together. So, maybe I can get some woots.

Re: Cars and social lives
Cars are obsolete technology, refer to the disclosure project, stanley meyers, and teslamotors.com
But Im just one guy. So if Im saying that billions are living a lie, would I expect anyone to believe me, one guy, over billions of people? Nope.
But I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by not having a car.
Ill tell you. At first I started running to stay in shape. Now I do it because I realize, I never was supposed to stop being a kid, society just got in the way. And with the strength I gain from running, I can walk farther, and feel better than everyone else who complains like a pansy "its cowld" and "I cant do anytin witout my cah." and "u dont have a car? aw u paw ding!" as they send their money down the tubes.
True, a lot of girls prefer a guy with a car. Thats because theyre just as blind as everyone else though. I can wait a few years until I have my own place, keep an eye on teslamotors and the energy revolution underway, and in the mean time, bus, bike, walk it and save my dough just in case I need an emergency car.
Social life?
I sure as hell dont enjoy partying with rich kids if thats what you mean. But Ive had some amazing experiences partying with people in this city, and not all of them had cars either. I guess it really doesnt matter in the end.
Cars are a waste of money. Did I mention theyre obsolete? Thats right, the man is fucking you big time. In the ass. No matter how hard you wish it away, this is not the technology that is going to last forever, and its doing more bad for this world than good )

How lazy are you? I regularly used to ride a bicycle over 16km/10 miles to parties.
Also, don't assume everyone lives in your area, with your level of public transport and population densities. People who live in modern cities can generally use public transport very effectively. At least that was my experience in Sydney.
EDIT: I hope you don't live in the middle of a desert or something, because then my points would be thoroughly pwnt

Re: Cars and social lives
If you can afford it, a car is a brilliant way to get to places (IF you have places to go).
If you can't afford it, it's an annoying cash-whore, much like some girlfriends...
There are always alternatives.

Motorbikes.
They cost less to buy, use less fuel, get you places faster (lane splitting), have less moving parts (thus have less that can go wrong with them).
Also in Australia, until you're off your probationary period, insurance is way too expensive for a biker. If you hit a car, you'll cause much less damage than if you hit it with a car, plus, you'll most likely die/sustain a horrific injury. The way I see it, insurance is pointless.
Motorbikes ftw.

Re: Cars and social lives
Eh, I don't have a car and I'm not in school.
I take the bus or walk almost everywhere, or bum lifts off my friends.
Sure, it can get a little inconvenient, but you know I eventually get to where I need to be.

Re: Cars and social lives
I've pretty much always had a car, and before I did I would hang out with people that had cars and we would go to the same parties so i've never had a damper on my social life for it..

The only downside to having a car are shitty, broke friends bumming rides off you.
