I've been in a relationship for 13months. I love my girlfriend so much, and she loves me! She is dropping out of school to get a job. Her gaurdians asked her to. So now her last day is friday.

She live four blocks away from me, but her aunts and uncle don't like/trust me. So we will only see each other maybe once a week or twice a month. hopefully more. She isn't aloud on the phone barely. whenever i call they say she is busy,

She is like their maid i swear. I love her so much! and would do anything for her. We have our future planned with each other and everything. she's 17. she is moving out in september with me. that is when she turns 18.

Just to see your opinions on this what would you do if you were me? or her for that matter.

I don't understand why her guardians would want her to quit school unless she's not been going. That makes no sense to me.

Get a place of your own, and move her in with you. Then let her finish school, and work part time on weekends as a waitress or something to help pay the bills.

dude dont let her quit school. if her parents give her a choice between doing what they want her to do or getting the hell out, then like oc6 said see if she can get emancipated and get a place of your own, let her finish school (the year is almost over anyway, and since shes 17 im assuming this is her last year) then have her get a job. quitting school is never a smart choice, no matter how useless you think your classes are. she'll be able to get a job a lot easier this way anyhow

i see a counselor just for someone to talk to. he told me it might not be worth it trying to get her emancipated. That it will take until september. or some shit.

I have a job now, I can hold my own, I have the money i need. My mom said she can move in here whenever she wants.

My girlfriends mom was murdered when my girlfriend was in 4th grade. so now she lives with 2 aunts and an uncle, and her 13yr old cuzin that is a little fat bitch. she acts like she fucking 6 years old.

She is why I can't hardly go over there because she will throw a fit saying me and nikki see each other to much or something.

What would happen if she moved out and got a place with you? Or...just moved out on her own even? She's so close to 18, would the authorities really get involved?



My "kneejerk" reaction is for her to move in with you and your mom and for her to finish school. To hell with the guardians. It sounds to me like they have strange priorities.

oc6- I'm not sure, because her gaurdians don't have custody. Her grandma 40minutes away does. they just have gaurdianship. She said she is going to talk to her grandma in like july and see if she will let her move in with me. If she asks now her g-ma will say no.

We are scared that she will have to move back in with her g-ma and i will then never see her.

If she were to move in here i would have to like hide her. Because her aunts would definately come down here raising hell. I could just pull a "OMG! what happend to nichole? and act like i haven't heard from her." Although that could get rough if they find out I'm lying.

To the best of my knowledge, that is illegal. Where I live, if your child is late to school too often then the government investigates.

If you live in the U.S. the conditions are set by the state. Most should have in common that she have the ability to support herself, including housing and has established that for a few months. So if her family is going to make her quit school and put her to work then she would have that soon enough. Check out the laws of your state.

oc6- do you think "housing" would include mine? And i was looking into this a few weeks ago, and Alot of people online told me a judge wouldn't emancipate her to live with her bf.

I have a topic going in BI, about doing this the illegal way and just have her hiding in my house or someone elses house til she turns 18.

She's so close to 18 I don't see why she would have to hide. But not, she can't live with you if she's gonna go legal. She just has to have a place to live elsewhere.

Check the laws in your state. Find out what she can do.

Btw, are they making her quit school because she skips anyway? If so, then that would probably put it in a different ball park (so to speak). That would indicate that she is not mature enough yet. She needs to behave as a responsible adult...not a kid.

I didn't understand what you meant by that? she can live with me or cant?

Also she doesn't skip school, they make her stay home to babysit sometimes. They want her to drop out and get a job, but i think they will screw her over and just make her babysit.

That means she can't. (But, check the laws in your state, okay?) The point of emancipation is that she is ready and capable of being in the adult world without supervision and being independant and making responsible choices.

I think the state looks at moving in with a boyfriend as not being all those things. But she could do that at 18.



Try to get her to stay in school. If her family pressures her to quit she needs to contact the authorities about it.

Has she spoken to a school counselor? I think I would start there actually.

well.. school is cancelled tomorrow for snow. friday is her meeting with tthe superintendent of the district, friday she signs herself out.

she tells me she doesn't want her family to be mad at her or disown her or some shit. I dunno..

It's hard to take charge of your life at such a young age. So many factors and pressure.
