Default My Situation (Creative, I Know)

This one falls more under affection than it does sex.

So there's this girl I've known for about six years now that I really like. We're easily the most compatible people I know, but there's a problem. She has a boyfriend that apparently she's "in love with" or some other such bullshit. They're easily the most incompatible people I know. Also, I'm 16 and she's 18. I really don't think that's a big deal, and neither has anyone else I've spoken to about it.

Anyway, my current COA is to just wait it out until she gets sick of him, which I imagine can't be too far off. I guess what I really want to hear from you guys is how I should make the transition from friendship to a relationship once that time comes.

Thanks.

Incompatible how?

Sometimes it's the differences between two people that makes a relationship more interesting.

It's good to have a mix of both.

Once you find out how to do that, you need to tell us all.

Here's my theory: You're a friend because of your personality. She can't be attracted to your current personality because you're already a friend. So, for her to be attracted to you, you'd have to change your personality.

And why would you want to do that? Are you sure you're in love with her, or you just think you are. I've thought that before, and then I realized that I wasn't really all that attracted to the person at all, for a variety of reasons.

Just a theory, hope I helped.

She can be attracted to his personality even though he's a friend. But she's "in love with" someone else. Until that changes...

Her boyfriend is in the Navy, and his hobbies include drinking, skateboarding, and drinking. He can't spell "reunions" and doesn't know what euthanasia is. She's pretty much the opposite.

The thing is, she often complains to me about all of the things she doesn't like about him, which leads me to believe she loves him but is in denial of how badly he treats her, and wants very much to believe that he's "the one".

Bash says it best...

"This is roughly the equivalent for the guy of going to a job interview and the company saying, You have a great resume, you have all the qualifications we are looking for, but we're not going to hire you. We will, however, use your resume as the basis for comparison for all other applicants. But, we're going to hire somebody who is far less qualified and is probably an alcoholic. And if he doesn't work out, we'll hire somebody else, but still not you. In fact, we will never hire you. But we will call you from time to time to complain about the person that we hired."

Very good analogy...

Well, thanks to those of you who gave me your input. I appreciate it. I also realize how hard it must be to post in a topic that isn't about rape, drugs, or other such things.

Good guys finish last. or something like that.

Just know you'll mean more to her than any other douche she dates, if you 'think' you love her, than leave it. Be her friend. If you 'know' you love her, and think it's worth ruining what u got now... than tell her how you feel.

Good Luck.

Good point, Junkie-Wino-Creep.

I'm going to have to put a lot of thought into this, although I'm close to positive it's love.

Anyway, I figure I've got some time before that opportunity presents itself.
