So basically I've been trying to get to know this chick for the past month or so, talking, hanging out some. She likes me, but she also is interested in this other kid. She's interested in him a little bit more, but I suspect it's because they've hooked up before, and they're in the same circle of friends.

Anyways, I want to get to know her; you can't start a relationship on nothing. However, if I sort of stick to the whole "When Harry Met Sally" type friends thing, that other kid will start dating her in the meantime. I'm conflicted between still trying to stay on the path I'm on, or just backing off and getting to know her with the hopes that if she turns out to be a cool girl for me, that we could possibly date in the future.

But also, there's this awkward tension between her and me because Friday, we showed up at the same party after she told me she couldn't go out. Obviously, I thought she was lying, and proceeded to get really wasted and have a good time while she went and cried somewhere else whilst discussing her conflict between the other kid and me with my two friends. She came there with the other guy though. So I was quite bitter the next day, when I found out it was actually a misunderstanding, but still there's an awkward tension still.

I'm tempted to call her and sort of lay a few things on the table, but idk if it'd be a bad idea.
