Yeah, I feel pretty pathetic asking here, but I don't really know how.

Secondly, this may not be the right forum (although it seems best). I'm interested in finding both friends & a girlfriend. I figure it shouldn't be too hard since I'm nice, I look good (according to past girlfriends and friends), and I dress well...

I'm just really shy. Last time I went on a date the girl said she liked me but I didn't talk enough.

So... suggestions?

You just have to conquer your fear of looking like a fool and spit out some things to talk about - just so long as you push conversation along (try get people to talk about themselves) they won't even notice you aren't saying much.

I'm shy as well, I just use humour as best I can, works a charm. Classes, bars, queues to pay for a bill, it really doesn't matter - people are usually looking for some company if they don't have it already (in the majority of cases, before someone replies and says 'no i don't')...

If you're too quiet, just work on your communication skills.

Go to the mall, or anywhere else theres people, and approach a random stranger. It doesnt have to be someone you're age or someone you'd be interested in dating or being friends with. And just see if you can talk to them for 5 minutes. Do that to like 5-10 people a day. Go once a week maybe, or more if you feel comfortable. After a while see how long you can keep the conversation going. 10 minutes. 20 minutes. Half an hour.

Thats how you meet people. And chances are, if you do that enough, you'll make a few friends along the way. Also, it may be better to go somewhere that has some interest to you instead of the mall.
