need help from someone who's graduated highschool on this one.
Okay, so I've only got one more year left of school, and, see, my friends are the absolute most important thing in my life. I'd be no where without my friends, seriously. Im scared shitless that when we graduate we'll all go completely seperate ways and never see each other ever again. Have any of you had this problem

Re: need help from someone who's graduated highschool on this one.
It's a common fear. Realize that life goes on, and even though it seems your friends are the only thing worth living for- you'll realize after graduation there's a whole life, full of experiences and new people to meet out there for you. The truest friends will stay close, n o matter how far apart.
My only advice is to never plan your life around someone else. Find your goals, go for them, and everything else will fall into place.

Re: need help from someone who's graduated highschool on this one.
It sounds weird, but you won't push your old friends out of your life unless you find someone new to replace them with. I thought that my friends in highschool would be my friends forever regardless of what happened. Now we simply don't talk to eachother as much... We've all got new friends who we know from our new schools and new homes. We still talk, but we just aren't as close as we used to be. In fact, I'm only still close friends with one of them, and that's because she goes to the same school as me.
Now when we DO see eachother, it's a lot more special because it's been such a long time.
So when you do stop talking to your friends from highschool, it will not be a total loss because you'll most likely be making new friends at the same time.

Funny, Pilsu but that's been true about litterally everything in my life except my friends.

Just stay in touch, it's really not that hard. The only reason I didn't retain most of my friends since high school is because I chose not to.
I still hang out with some friends though that I've known since kindergarten. If you're good friends with them, then it shouldn't be a problem.

I know it should be easy, but i've always heard that people nearly never stay in touch with their school friends...

That's purely by choice. What supernatural force is keeping them from seeing each other?? None that I know of. If you want to stay in touch with them, and they want to stay in touch with you, then I really don't see what the problem is...
Unless you're moving away or they're moving away, in which case there would obviously be a bit of a problem.

Re: need help from someone who's graduated highschool on this one.
I've said this before, you only really know your true friends when you're faced with something like that.
I still talk/see my 4 good friends from school, 3 of them are pretty close because they're now back in the same city we grew up in, whereas myself and another are on a different island to them
You have to remember to put the effort into contacting them, but you must remember it's important to make new friends aswell!

I still hang out with my closest friends from high school, but not nearly as much as I used to. It's a good thing though, because that makes seeing them SO much more fun.
But the ones I don't hang out with... Not that I don't like them, I just don't miss them like I thought I would.

Re: need help from someone who's graduated highschool on this one.
My two best friends ended up and I all ended up being spread across the country once college hit. 3 different states separated by over thousand miles.
I've since made new best friends, but all the while managing to stay in touch with my best friends from high school.
The real kicker in all this is both friends who went out of state for college are transferring to school here and we're living together. Between them and the new friends I've made I'd say things are looking good.
I was petrified to leave for school. It's hard--it was especially hard for me--but you'll figure it out. Don't give up quickly.

I knew who my really good friends, and who my aquantances were when I left highschool. I'm still great friends with all of them, though we don't always see each other as much. I know it's lame/gay/emo or whatever, but seriously, use facebook, it's a great way to stay in touch.

A lot of school friends I haven't kept in touch with so much, but I'll meet a fair few when we're all back from holidays.
Friends come and go is how I see it.

Re: need help from someone who's graduated highschool on this one.
I got out last year and decided to take a year or two off until i go to college. Most of my friends went. They stay your good friends, and the time you spend with them is just that much more important. The tricky part is finding something to take up your time, but, your friends will always be your friends if you put enough effort into the relationship you have with them.

Don't worry about it. The friends you make at university or at your job will be the friends you keep for life. You'll still see your old mates from time to time, too, though (or at least, I still see them)

Some will go and some will stay. Some will stay and disapear later on in life and some will disapear and reappear later on in life. It's no big deal, the worlds a pretty big place outside of highschool.
I still have a couple friends from highschool and that was years ago. But my friends are mostly made up of people i've met since I've been out.

Totally understand man. I figured the same thing but, its all working out. Basically, if they are truly your best friends, you'll stick with em. Just make it a point to stay in touch.

Re: need help from someone who's graduated highschool on this one.
It's up to you guys to make the friendship work.
We were all friends in primary school. Then went to different highschools, then all moved to different areas. Now I live 90 minutes away from my friends, but I still see them every week.
Just put in some effort. It's worth it.

Re: need help from someone who's graduated highschool on this one.
I have four very close, best friends from high school. Three of them went to college in our hometown, and me and one other left. It did suck, but you do make new friends in college, and I have great friends in both places. When I go home, I love seeing my old friends, but then when I go back it's just as great to be with my new ones. I was considering transferring and going to school back in my hometown, but decided against it. It was a difficult decision, though. Good luck.
