Lying on customs shipping form about valentines day candies
To the mods: Sorry, I know this thread is kinda out of place, but spurious seems to be clogged up with notse crap at the moment, and since it has to do with valentines day, i thought S&A was the second best place to put this thread.
My girlfriend is currently in New Zealand, and NZ is notorious for being bitchy about any sort of food coming through the mail.
Since it's valentines, and I'm sending my girl some gifts through the mail, and she wants me to send some of her favourite american candies (i.e. junior mints and reeses). However, from my experience, food like that always gets held up forever in NZ customs, and they often just throw packages away if they don't like it.
I'm considering lying on the green customs form sticker that I have to put on the package. If I don't include the candy on it, and instead I put something inconspicuous on it, what is the chance that they will open it? Is it worth the risk?

Just pack it all in a square box and wrap the box up nice. Make sure the candy can't move inside. They're hardly going to rip open someone's Valentine's present with no cause if it doesn't look suspicious, or sound suspicious when shaken a bit.

It helps to have a little clock ticking inside the box and perhaps some flex 'accidently' poking out the wrapping at one end.

Just write "Valentine's Gift" on the customs sticker, and make the value higher than that of the confectionary. If there is no rattling in the package, you're unlikely to have a problem.
SWIM used to send a lot of cannabis via airmail and never had a problem. It was always disguised as small gifts.
