Well, basically what the title says.

I want to make Valentines Day special for my girlfriend because we have been together for over 8 months, and both love each other (I'm pretty sure). Except I really have no ideas what to make of Valentines Day.

What would a good present be? And what would be a good place to take her? Or what could I do to make Valentines Day something special for her?

PS, I'm not made of money, but I could spend up to 200$ for her on Valentines Day

And Please, could I get serious posts, not no "Bang her up the ass" or "Lock her in the basement" type posts, which you think are funny

Do something special that relates to her. There's no point us telling you what to do because we don't know her. Remember a restaurant she's said she likes or think of a place you've been together that's special or cook her her favourite food. Find a rare CD by her favourite band, a demo or something, if she's really into them. Something that's not just a pre-packaged mass-produced generic gift any dipshit could pick off a shelf.

I personally dislike the whole concept of Valentine's day.

However, you asked a question so I will answer.

Buying a big, expensive present will please her at the time, but it will not make for a memorable day. You need to either take her out somewhere that is of significance to your relationship (eg where your first date was or whatever) or if you don't want to do that, stay in, watch a film you both love, cook a meal (don't order a take-away) and have a nice, nauseatingly soppy romantic time. Or whatever you kids do these days.

Valentines day is a waste of time. If you love someone, you should show this every day and not one day of the year. So don't go blowing stupid amounts of money on her, just do something nice for her. I'm going to cook my girlfriend dinner and then let her subject me to her really, really bad movie taste. Sorted!

I also hate the idea of Valentines day. Instead of presents, she's coming up to visit me at Uni; I'm going to cook her a meal and let her choose a movie to watch. It's that time of the month unfortunately, so no romantic bath together, but hey, there'll be ice cream, chocolate and a nice warm bed!

I dislike Valentines day too. Its meant for us to consume and buy. Now adays that is.

As for you guys who get to be with your girlfriend everyday, try being 600m away from your girlfriend and having to wait a year until you can see each other... not fun. If I could, I'd spend every living moment with that woman -.- but I can't...

But uh anyways, make yourself a card for her, make her dinner, do some drugs, fuck and then end the night off with some cuddling... I'd be doing the same but with wacky twists because I can....but I can't =((

Moral of the story: DON'T FUCKING BUY CRAP. Shit means so much more when its made by hand. Hehe, she's making some thing in her pottery class for me ^_^ I fucking can't wait to get it, and yes dear (she's here on Totse) I'm making you something too ;p

You spend $200 on something for Valentines Day after only knowing someone for 8 months? What do you do for other occasions? How much money can you easily spend on a girl? What will her expectations become?

It just sounds like an awful lot of money to spend for the holiday after only knowing someone 8 months. But then, I'm conservative with my money. I have to be.

Something memorable would be to punch her in the vagina as hard as you can. Then she'll probably kick/punch you in the balls on her way down to the floor. And when you both finally finish rolling around in agony/crying/name calling/maybe a few follow up punches/etc. You will look into each others eyes, see the humor in what just happened, and have a good laugh and maybe some, slightly more painful than usual, sex.

Trust me, thats memorable. No other guy will ever top that V-Day... unless he killed her and than had sex with her dead body, I'm sure she, and most the community and maybe country won't forget that V-Day.

I'm not going to lie; Valentine's day is more or less a bullshit holiday, which deserves nothing more in celebration than any other day. My girlfriend and I, having acknowledged this, are probably going to rent movies and have sex and chill around. Neither of us, however, are really into the whole "dinner at a fancy restaurant" thing, so that might also be a factor. I suggest just having a day alone. Movies and popcorn is more enjoyable than you might think.

Make her a candle lit dinner, cover a white table in red rose petals and cook her favorite dish.

How old are you?

tell her you don't like valentines and you don't want to spend your day out with her looking like another couple.

instead celebrate the 13th as if it were valentines day, and then cuddle with her on the actual valentines day, and just sleep in with her.

i believe a gesture is more memorable.

I'm plannin on gettin handcuffs and writing erotic poetry and then stashing both in the bottom of a box of chocolates. Anyone can recommend what to look for in a box? I'm looking to stash about a quarter inch on the bottom and still make it look semi normal.
