Well you are probably feeling very unfulfilled in life, or unsatisfied with what you are doing. Just because you have friends and play sports, which might make many people happy, doesnt mean you have to be happy with these qualities. Try to find a hobby or a girlfriend or a new sport maybe... try new things to spice up your life. I'm guessing you're just wasting away in quiet desperation because you dont know whats wrong but its fine buddy. Keep your head up and try new things

Dr Phil, you may be depressed. I'd recommend smoking some weed and visiting a psyciatrist. Good luck. By the way, just cause you cut your wrist's doesn't mean that you're "emo." Some cultures like self-scarring. Some people like being in power of their body, and that's just the way they show that.

Using drugs to escape reality is not advisable.

Try talking to someone who actually has a clue, like a guidance councellor.

How old are you? What's your relationship with your family like?

Freud said your psychological problems are rooted with your relationship with your mother. How is your relationship with your mother? Ever felt like she asked too much of you?

It's because you suffered tragedy in your childhood. You're afraid to be happy because when you inevitably fall into depression it's harder.

Subsequently you've become addicted and comfortable in your depression.

Has this happened to anyone else? I'm happy now, but for a long time I... wanted to be depressed. I didn't enjoy it, exactly. I wanted to be happy, really. But there was... satisfaction, maybe? Something like that. Wallowing in depression felt good, fulfilling, in some weird way.

It is broken. What I was saying is that to turn your life around, it has to get worse before it gets better (and it does get a lot better).

People become dejected after a few attempts and say 'this is just my lot', which isn't the case.

I often wonder why people preach about happiness and whatnot and have nothing themselves. Like my mother preaches about how I should get married instead of assuming it goes to shit in less than 10 years anyway. She's been married with father for what, 30 years. They do nothing but yell to eachother, yet tell me it's a goal to strive for

Try drugs seriously sometimes all you need is a release smoke a joint everynow and then or drink if you want to stay legal just dont let it be your only way out.

Everything's transitory, we can't keep an emotion in our pocket and it's pretty useless once it's gone. But I'd rather have mania anyday rather than humbdrum depression.

Reading FCAdams post, then the post under theirs made me laugh as the psuedo-physcologist wave begins. If you're feeling really bad and you can't figure out why, go see a doctor. That's all there is to it.

If you're depressed. Something in your life is causing it.

Simple solution: Through trial and error, start changing your life till you figure out what's wrong.

Summary: Change.

Ask for help, ask an adult at school or your parents. A psychologist should be able to help and if it's that bad a psychiatrist could always figure out the correct medicine for you.

To the thread starter: Three things: Self-improvement, creativity, and interaction with other people. Exercise (long walks/runs are good), draw, write, do stuff with others... whichever you want. Just found that a combination of those three helped me. Get a hobby?
