Default I feel like a dickhead.. (long and stupid)

So I come running to totse for a bit of talking shit..

Well, here's the thing.. every time there's a fight around me, I'm too drunk to realize there's something going on.

First time this thing happened, I'm at this party(months ago and I thought I'd learn from it), a guy I know whos what they might say in England is an ex-chav (he lived in an area known as Preston, where people get chased for being different to the normal baseball cap wearing skinheads, he himself sold pot and smoked it day in day out) whos sister died in a horse riding accident only a few years ago. He explains this at the drinking session and a few minutes later some Indian guy goes "It's not okay to have sex with your sister, but it is okay your cousin." Of course, the guy whos sister died takes offence to this and has to walk out before he hits the guy and I'm left chatting to the Indian guy, not understanding whats going on. It's all sorted in the end though.

Tonight, I'm with three friends (two guys, one girl, the girl being girlfriend with one of the guys). We end up joining in a big group and bring one of my female flatmates, lets call her Louise (attractive, good friend of mine I'd suppose), into this drinking game. One friend leaves, who was trying to get into flatmate and it's left with two couples (ex-chav and his girlfriend and the single male friend has gone, so it's the other two), flatmate and myself.

Now the female flatmate, I've only worked out tonight isn't that good with other girls, mostly other guy friends. She doesn't exactly hit it off with the other two girls and later, after we're out of alcohol, I suggest to her that we go see some other friends (thinking, leave the couples to whatever they get up to and see some friends and it'll all be gravy), when out of the kitchen the ex-chav's girlfriend storms out and is all like "Why did you insult me in front of my boyfriend's face?"

Now Louise may have been insulting, but I thouhg this was just going to be a petty bitchy argument, so I put my hand against my arm, press it against a wall and close my eyes thinking "Fuck sake, why are girls always at this shit." Seriously, at this point I'm thinking "Ahh, they'll have a silly bitchy argument, that'll be the end of it." WRONG.

As my eyes are closed, I fail to see Louise supposedly kick the girl, then the girl slam Louise's head off the wall, ex-chav pulling her off. I open them and I'm looking after Louise, trying to keep swelling down, blood to stop bleeding, generally just comforting her, trying to look after the wound.

My actions afterwards, don't bother me, I think I was generally mature behaving (especially for a fairly drunk Irish man, I must have had most of a bottle of whiskey, two pints of beer and two glasses of dregs of other people's drink as part of the drinking game!), dealt with the problem sufficiently well. Tried to get her to the college nurse, and got her settled in the kitchen, got her relaxing as best as can and got some of her best friends round (one who knows more about first aid than the college porters).

I just feel like such an ass!

Why the hell did I close my eyes whenever an argument was going on? Why the hell did I just go "stupid girls hurt my head, I don't need this."

I shoulda just got her out of there from doing anything stupid and from the other girl from going boogaloo at her.

Same thing as the first one, why couldn't I realize things were an issue. I must be seriously socially inept.

I'm either looking for:

a) It's Okay, you did the best you could

or

b) You fucking ass

c) Something completely different

Right now, it's a slight comedown from the drunkeness

Yeah, you're fine. Don't worry about it... it's just coming off of the alcohol. Just because they want to mash each others faces in over something like that isn't your poor selfs fault. So, choice A para ti.

Unrelated sidenote: Is louise actually hot, or are you just drunk?

In your situation I wouldn't have given a damn that some bitch was hurt. But then I'm feeling very misogynistic at the moment.

The majority of (young) women that don't have alot of female friends, don't handle argument the same way as the conventional female with girly ass friends would.

When you hang out with alot of guys, the females you hang out with also tend you be blokey guys, and you get used to physical violence being an a-ok sort of way to handle a problem. In my experience anyway, don't take my word on this.

You weren't being an ass, you were just ignorant, and obviously don't know your flatmate as well as you thought you did.

Certain groups of girls actually breed violence amongst themselves. If you want to get stereotypical about it, it's usually the skanky unpopular ones.

All I requested something of Sick_Boy in this Thread (http://www.totse.com/bbs/Forum4/HTML/027081.html) that applies to you too. Though I'm starting to feel a bit predatory.

I feel like most of you are right.

For the record Louise is pretty hot, I've always thought so, though almost less so now, because I've witnessed her limitations.

She always struck me as a girl that could hold her head up high and walk away. I think partly because she's got a very posh sounding voice.

I'm probably her most fight ready/masculine friend too (I'm a big guy and even though I've never been in a real fight, for fun I will suprise tackle friends and am quite sure I'd be able to hold my own against average Joe shitter), but even I had to take her away and go chill out, don't be running back in there (she wanted to), because it'll only hurt more.

I tried to say last time that I won't be ignorant enough to let it happen again, so I won't this time.

I just need to be more alert of how people actually react to things..

Yes, you're an ASS. A HUGE ASS.

Not because of the fight. If it has to happen, dude, it happens and that's it.

I'm calling you an unrisponsable idiot who'd deserve a couple of rounds in both of his knees.

Why?

Because, thank God, that fight happened amongst friends. So that usually won't end very bad, excepting for Louise.

But imagine that happened in a pub and you were way to drunk to realize there is happening a fight between your group of friends and another bunch of people.

You can get stabbed, or our friends can, without realizing it untill is too late.

Moderate, dude, it's not about "hey, look how manly I am I had two of these, four of these others, and a couple of pints of that!". Its about having fun.

Next time it can cost your life.

Or if not your life, you could start blurting profanities on a close friend's account thanks to drunkness and end loosing that friend's support just because you were to wasted to think what your mouth was spewing.

In conclusion, yes, you're an ass.

In the other hand, good you took care about Louise, but you saw your weakness, wich is nearly-complete obnoxiousness when drunk.

Watch it.

Maybe a little harsh there, but point taken.

TBH, Louise had never met the girl before, so it coulda been worse had her boyfriend not stepped in.

You seem to be telling me off for getting drunk or something, that's just what I do.. it's not gonna stop.

As for me being obnoxious, you're right, I was being pedantic the way I acted, which is what I regret, when had I thought about it I could have sorted it out.

This time, it's over, I do just hope nothing stupid like that happens again and if it does I'll be more alert.

Oh, no, I am not telling you off for getting drunk. My tone was of being über pissed, due to personal things, not yourdrinking.

I was trying to warn you that you have to ponder the situation when you're getting drunk, as it might entail certain risks to you (as I mentioned, fights and weird behaviour that leads to bad reputation, etc).

You know? I recall something that happened while I was with some friends. One of my mates had a friend who'd always drink a lot. And I mean, A LOT.

The funny part was that he'd used to slurr anithing that came up his mind, wheter or not was appropiate.

But the fun broke as soon he began talking on how much we didn't like him because of his habits, how this person has a small dick and surely likes it in the ass since his girlfriend has been complaining, etc...

The grand finale was when someone stood up and told him to calm the fuck down. The drunkey puked all over him and we had to prevent this guy beating the shit outta him.

After we kicked him out of the place, we forgot he took a bottle of whiskey. But we didn't have to worry much about it, as the drunkard had the decency of giving it back....

THROUGH THE WINDOW.

Of course, when we got outside to definitly break his sorry ass, the guy was gone.

Next week, as the dude didn't wake up in a long time, he couldn't remember why we were mad at him, and why the guy who got puked on intended to beat the living shit outta him.

Fortunately, you're not that type. But this guy already knew he'd do stupid things while drunk.

All am saying is ponder whenever is a good time or not to get wasted.

Ronin, by and large most people I tend to drink with don't go off on one.

There's the odd risk of fights breaking out with people in the street who start fights, because guys when drunk often don't back down. Fortunately, hasn't happened here, yet.

The girl who I feel went nuts, I just won't be introducing anyone else to. I haven't known her that long, but always regarded her as the guy's girlfriend, not really a friend of mine. The first incident, the ex-chav ended up being very proud of himself for walking out and not hitting the guy.
