Taking a break?
So after almost a year and a half, me and my girl are on a break. I'll start at the beginning. Her and I went to college (year 11 and 12) together, and she was in the year below me, we both started dating around the time I was graduating, and then kept dating through the next year, my 1st year of Uni and her final year of college. And now she's graduated, and it's the beginning of her first year out of school, she wants to move to another city, she wants to travel to europe and she just wants to be a better person for herself, things that she's told me many times, things that she wants me to be a part of. But whenever the future came into conversation I always just seemed to shun it off, saying that I didn't know what I wanted to do and just generally not seeming interested.
So on Sunday she tells me we need a break, specifically that *I* need a break to think about what I want to do this year without her being in the equation, and that was pretty much it. She cried a bit and told me she loved me, and that she didn't want to freak me out but that she could see herself marrying me in the future and having my kids, and that she feels like I'm her soulmate etc.
She told me that she was holding me back from doing what I wanted, and that she was a bad influence on me, but that's just bullshit. She was my motivation to quit smoking, to start working out, to finally get off my ass and make a short film that could be in a very prestigious film festival. She doesn't know that she is what makes me a better person, and now I don't know what to think, is she gone? Or is this really and truly just a break? I just don't know, but I do know that thinking about her with somebody else just makes my blood boil.
What do you tihnk totse? What the fuck?

QFT...sad indeed, but things never go back to normal after taking a break.

Re: Taking a break?
I love taking breaks. Even a few days of alone time make me a happy camper.
But in your case, it really does sound like she's trying to break up with you. Sorry dude.

Hmm, well what I don't understand is why she still text messages me about her day and stuff. I don't know, maybe I'm just too blind to see.

haha, that's not true. Not all girls are slutty cunts. Maybe she really believes that you need time.. why don't you try telling her how you feel if you havent already.

Re: Taking a break?
well, do you think I should wait a bit more before I tell her how I feel? Or just tell her now? I really want to tell her how I feel, and I almost have called her so many times, but I always stop myself and say "Ill wait a few more days, then call" It's been like a week of break, long enough?

Does she have a history of self esteem problems?

Re: Taking a break?
Not that I know of, she may have been depressed when she was younger, she lived in a rural community without many other people etc. Why do you think that's relevant?

Re: Taking a break?
Why does this sound familiar? Oh yeah, it just happened to me like 2 months ago. End result? We are broken up, and have been since then.
Sorry pal, it's not looking good.

How honest is she? In my opinion she either has low self esteem or is making up bullshit to try and ease herself away from you..
A week is long enough, talk to her about it.

You think I should? Also, after coming out of this 4 day bender of drinking I've found out from one of my friends that she called him after she instigated the break, and told him about it, asking him to take care of me and make sure I dont do anything stupid, he tells me that by the way she told him, that it really only is a break, and not a break up. I guess I should wait a few more days before confronting her again, maybe valentines day?

Life is too short. Do you love her? Do you want to lose her? Fucking ring her. Better yet, go see her in person. Bring a gift, something that will have significance to her, then tell her what you told us. That she's your inspiration to succeed.

Hell yes tell her those things....yes yes yes, you have nothing to lose. If she's gonna break up with you you may as well tell her how you feel....Definitely tell her
