Pisses me off.. Situation.
So I had this girlfriend, Susan, since late October, but broke up with her as I had begun to have feelings for another girl, Claire.
This other girl, Claire, found out that I liked her, as a third girl, Vicky, who happens to be my friend, told her.
Vicky, over AIM, earlier in the week, had told me that she had had a huge crush on me earlier in the year up until two week before. I didn't care much, as the feeling wasn't reciprocal, but I simply said, "oh, really? wow, haha," or something along those lines.
Anyways, yesterday, Vicky asked me the unoriginal, overused phrase "what's up?" and I explained to her that yet another girl, Melissa, who actually does/did like me, and that I was confused as to whether or not I should continue to go after Claire, or just go with Melissa. Vicky told me "ehh... I think you should go with melissa," at which point I knew deep in the bowels of my heart that the following sentences would go along the lines of "Yeah, Claire doesn't like you." I inquired, and just as I had expected, I was told that "Claire told me [Vicky] that she doesn't like you, but she also told me not to tell you, as she didn't wanna hurt your feelings."
Now, I felt down, of course, but yeah... what else is new. The girl you like doesn't like you... it's a bummer, obviously.
So today was the first day I had re-seen Claire since I discovered, officially, that she didn't like me. I was surprised, as she and her friend, who's usually kind to me, really didn't even say "hi" or anything. So I just ignored her throughout Art class, throwing glances, and smiling occasionally. She, too, looked at me in a very "happy," "smiley" manner, seemingly doing so in a way suggesting that she didn't want others to see. Anyways, I was a bit sad, of course, but nothing too noticeable.
Now, as we went back into the other room, where we sit at tables and listen to the teacher talk, I sat down at the same table I usually do, but in a different disposition, in an attempt to not be as close to Claire as I typically am. She was at my table, however. I smiled, but Vicky was right there too. Awkward, of course, but I just kept my cool. I started working on Geometry homework minutes before the bell would ring, and I stayed quiet, although I'm usually quite funny, and make people laugh, and am quite "active;" I don't know how to put it, it's just... I was calmer than usual. Anyways, getting to the point, she and Vicky giggled/smiled as I didn't say anything, and pretended to focus on my Math homework. I looked up, as their smiles/giggles were evident, and simply asked "What?" in an inquisitive manner. They both said at the same time, "nothing," and the bell rang.
So, two classes and a snack later, I'm at home on AIM; Claire IM's me "hey." I simply reply back "hey" and then we engage in a mindless conversation.
Did Vicky do something mean behind my back, as she secretly likes me, or am I over-reading this?
Why would Claire IM me, obviously wanting to speak to me, knowing that I liked her and she liked me back?
I don't know what to think, but would like some input.
