I feel like a high school kid or something..

there's this girl in my english class, she always sits next to me, she seems very shy. I don't know anything about her...she's not a 10 out of 10 but she dresses so well and she seems intelligent and I just have the hugest crush on her.

she always has a fuckload of mints and gum, so I figured maybe I could start a conversastion with her by asking her if I could have a piece of gum, but I wouldn't know where to go from there.

my friend who knows her offered to put in a good word for me, but I worry that could come off as creepy.

I've considered just being forward with her, telling her that I think she is beautiful and asking her out for coffee some night during the week, but that could be creepy as well.

I usually get to class first, and she always sits next to me, but that could easily be because it's closest to the door.

any ideas on how to approach her? I've also considered adding her as a facebook friend..but again, that just seems lame.

Add her on facebook, leave her a message saying hi. Then in class, ask for gum, making small talk, ect. Then after a few days of that, ask her out for coffee.

sitting next to her is almost a disadvantage...if i was to start conversation, i have a minute and a half max before class starts, and once class starts, it's not really one of those classes where i could get away with whispering or making comments.

If you have a large member, then just whip it out, that'll give her something to talk about. But I'm guessing that you don't cuz your only in middle school, apparently.

So yeah, just talk about random stuff, anything at all, like her hair or w/e.

just find the courage and the balls to talk to her. or talk to her friends. seriously if keep going like this you have NO FUCKING CHANCE. if you talk to her you'll have a chance...which sounds better to you? go make me proud and talk to her

Because if you are the second, chances are, no matter what you do, she's gunna think you are creepy. But if you have a lot of friends, and are 'popular' (such a ridiclious word), then you won't have problem approaching her.

And, if your friend is actually friends with her, then get him to put in a good word. That way it will be like, if your friend is cool with you, she could be cool with you too.

But really it all comes down too, what are you considered at your school?

I go to college, but the campus is so small, it's pretty much like a high school. My friend who knows her is a girl, not sure if that could be an advantage or disadvantage.

I'm definitely not the creepy kid, I have a good group of friends and I'm always at the parties and at the bars.

I think I'm just nervous about starting the initial conversation, that's it. I've never been good at it.

Well then you definatly go for that shit! Get your friend to put in a good word for you, but don't let her do all the work. You'll look like a pussy. Just start with some small talk... are you funny? Make her laugh. Tell her that you and your friends are going to be hitting up a bar later tonight, and ask her if she'd like to join.

If you are to nervous to ask her out just you and her, offer her to come out with you and your friends.

I'd say your best course of action is talk to your friend, the one that knows her. Just start it out casually, like "Hey you know [name] right? She's in my english class.. I think she's kinda cool" That's all it takes. See what happens.

And asking for a piece of gum next time won't hurt.

I'm kind of in the same situation, I met someone through a friend and I didn't get her number or anything. I added her on facebook at the risk of seeming creepy to go hunt for people I just met on facebook.. but you know what, sometimes you have to take those kinds of chances. Good luck.

Today in class, she sat next to me again, and the professor handed out a quiz and I pretended to not have a pen. I asked her for a pen, she didn't say anything but immediately started searching through her bag for one. Unfortunately, the queer professor cockblocked me and got excited when he heard I needed a pen and jumped at the chance to give me one...I don't even know how he heard me. Quiz began and I couldn't speak to her.

Later at dinner I was with my friend who knew her and finally had the opportunity to speak to her. Talked about class, couldn't think of anything else. She seems nice but shy, and I really don't know where to go from there.

Well, why don't you try to talk to her after class? Just say something, anything. "Hey, is it just me or does this book we're reading really suck?" "So how'd you do on that quiz?" Whatever. You know the circumstances better than I do. Just come up with shit to say. If she shrugs you off, don't push it. If she seems interested too, go from there. You'll be able to gauge her reaction fairly well from an exchange of just a few words.

I ran into her again before she had a meeting, she writes for the school paper. Apparently, the paper is looking for contributing columnists, and offered me a position. I told her I'd think about it. My plan is after next class, I'll tell her I'm interested but wanted to discuss a few things, and set up another time to meet with her. I think this could work.
