what can i do to avoid awkward silences when talkin on the phone to a chick i like?

i mean you know how chicks are, they like to just sit around and talk on the phone forever. but after a while i kinda run outta stuff to talk about and then the chick kinda gets bored and loses interest.

what are some hints/tips you can give me or what are some things i can say or do to get a conversation going good and keep it going good?

also id like to come off as being more like a joker type person, not so serious as i currently am. what are some fun things i can say/do to let her know i like to play or kid around, and get her to laugh?

It's no different to talking to a friend on the phone.

Sometimes a silence will happen. It's simply inevitable. Don't worry about it, because they're just as worried about being interesting as you are.

My point there is, it's not your duty to keep the conversation going. It's a two-way street. So don't worry about being responsible for it man.

My tactic for the silences? I just stay silent until I think of something to say, or she does. If she says something about an awkward silence, I say 'what awkward silence?'

End the conversation before it gets to that point.

id say try not to worry about that if you can help it..

Next time you see her in person bring up something you said on the phone and use this to say (In an offhand nice way) that you hate talking to her on the phone because she has nothing to say and always expects you to lead the conversation. (I FUCKING HATE PEOPLE LIKE THAT!:mad)

Hopefully she'll get embarrassed and think those awkward silences are all her fault, and subsequently try to say something to fill it.

thats what i would do if talkign to a dude, but sometimes my girlfriend will call me up at like midnite just cuz shes bored and wants me to keep her entertained. so im kinda on the spot you know?

I have one favorite line I use when this happens, whether it be with a girl i like or don't like, I ask, "So.....Uhhhh.....What are you wearing?"

A lot of things can happen after asking this. Some will actually tell you what they're wearing but with the understanding of what you are trying to do which is start a sex conversation. This has led to phone sex for me.

Other girls will just laugh which is also good because this opens up opportunities for kidding around and at least breaks the silence which can lead to a conversation of a different topic.

Then there's the stupid bitches that say, "just some pajamas" or whatever else she may be wearing. These hos don't have a sense of humor, aren't sexual, and just aren't interesting at all. Encountering one of these is also good because they are the stupid airhead type girls that can be easily seduced.

Talk? Dude, you have a lot to learn. On the phone with a chick, you DON'T TALK. You sit yo ass down with a crossword puzzle or something for the next hour going "yep, uh huh, okay, hmm".

Talk to her like you don't want to sleep with her. Pretend she's ugly. If you get nervous just imagine her doing something trivial. Like changing a roll of toilet paper on the dispenser. She's just another person dude. Do you worry about awkward silences when you talk to a family member or friend on the phone? Do the same with her. Joke around with her, make yourself easy to talk to. Put yourself in her shoes. What would you like to hear someone say to you on the phone who's interested in you? "Let's fuck" probably isn't a good idea though.

Or just say something batshit insane when it's silent. "Cletus, quit jerkin off! I'll get the hose!" then throw something against the wall for added effect.

yes, this is the type of thing im looking for. just little things i can say to keep her interested and kinda flirt with her...

were not full out boyfriend/girlfriend yet; i just met her last weekend but we definitely have a connection and were well on our way.

i know she likes me a lot though from the hints shes dropped (and yeah weve made out a few times and had sex once). shes told me about how she likes that she can talk to me about anything (like right now shes going thru a lot of personal shit with her family) and she kinda needs someone to talk to about it. i really do like her and care about her.

its not so much that i cant hold a conversation (tho id rather talk in person than on the phone) but after being on the phone for like 20-30 minutes i just cant think of much to say...we live kinda far from each other so we dont see each other every day (which sucks) so a lot of our communication is on the phone.

so i guess what im looking for are just little conversation starters, or subtle things i can say to find out her interests and make deeper connections with her.

I, after spending quite a sum on phoning my potential girlfriends (they are all potential till they get the restraining order, get me?), decided to be a huge monster on the tel.

If they call me for work-related topic, good. EVERITHING that goes beyond that, I act like "what the fuck you called me for". Simply cold, usually demanding such things as "hey, make it simple" or "hurry, I haven't got time for this".

So, if they EVER say "you must lead the conversation" I will reply: "I am not a care bear, you know? I am not making you giggle for free".

If the bitch is clever enough, she would say something like "then what would you make me giggle for?". Answer: "A date, and I assure you there will be a lot more than giggling."

She might laugh, spazz out or even accept. Possibilities are endless!

If she's in the bitchy mood and whatever she says, I'll go "Well, nice talking to you/Fine, good bye", all with a calm voice, implying "you're annoying the FUCK out of me yet I am trying to be polite".

If I hang up, ALWAYS I get that girl the next day asking me if she did something wrong, etc...

Let me tell you that I have only done this to those gals that, having my number, have rejected a date with me.

I must say I have never sobbed on her shoulder about "I want you, you want me? Lets go and make kids!", it was more about "Hey, what are you doing this weekend?" and being enough flexible for her to bring friends, or even a hockey team if she wanted! Like trying to give the impression of "lets have some fun and whatever happens!" instead "I am trying to hypnotize you"



Sadly enough, my looks are those of a "potential date-rape" or perhaps those of an organ seller. So usually no date, heh.

i guess part of the problem (it could be a positive in some ways too i guess) is that i already know all the basic stuff about her....like what her jobs like, what her familys like, some of her interests and so on.

and sometimes i feel like im comin off a little too serious, i want to be seen more as lighthearted and kinda funny, but its hard to just come up out of the blue with something thats gonna make her laugh.

She's your girlfriend right?? So there must be confidence, interest, maybe affection so there shouldn't be any room for awkward silences.
