So after totting it up with a friend I am a 17 year old male who is 5'6.5" with shoes on. I hope to be 5'8" in a year (i'll be 18 then). So would any girls immediately not want to go out with me because of this?

Height may be a factor. But, there are plenty of girls that are shorter than that, so don't worry.

Now, if you meet a girl thats taller than you - and you two hit it off, I mean, really hit it off it won't matter a all.

Nope, there was no sarcasm in that. Height doesn't mean a thing if LOVE is involved. If it's just for teh secks, then yeah, obviously there has to be a strong physical attraction. But a lot of women like men shorter than them, too.
