Default First date

Alright guys, I asked a girl out today for the first time ever and she said yes. I was overjoyed and I started bouncing off the walls. Today is probably one of the best days of my life. What I want to know is: what should I do on this date?

I asked her to a movie, so I suggested The Holiday or The Pursuit of Happiness. I texted her those two, but I offered up anything she wants to see.

What should I do? I normally wear whatever clothes make me comfortable, but I'll be dressing up nicer. I'll be wearing a pair of blue jeans and a nice Ralph Lauren dress shirt. I don't want to make her feel pressured or anything. She's a really nice girl and she's really pretty, and I want to make her feel as special as I can. I'm considering dinner as well before the movie in the food court. Naturally, I would get the smallest thing I could in an effort to save money and not make myself look like a fatass (which I technically am, but not obese).

My questions to you guys are as follows:

When we go to the movie, I plan on letting her sit where she wants to, but what to do during the movie? I mean it's my first date EVER and it's going to be my first time. I have to learn at some point, so I'm trusting you guys to help me out.

Next: when we're eating, what should we talk about? I don't want it to be awkward or anything and I'm not too good at making small talk, especially with girls.

I don't have my own car, and since I'm not 16 yet (I turn 16 in about 3 weeks) I can't drive to her house by myself. My mom is gonna drop us off and pick us up from the mall, and my question is this: when I drop her off at her house after the date is over, do I, if quick enough, run around and open the door for her? Also, I will walk her to her door. What do I do? I'm thinking I just say 'good night.'

I'm probably overthinking this. I probably just need to go with the flow. But, I'm still asking. I don't have any pictures, unfortunately.

Help, please. :]

edit: ahh, never mind guys. i got her text back.. "hey i dont know how to say this w/o it being mean but i dont want it to be. what im trying to say is i dont want to go. i would have told you this morning but i was too chicken to. im really sorry and i understand if you hate me after this"

thanks for reading anyway if you took the time to.. anyway later guys. mods can close this if they want.

Well when you go to the cinema, normally you watch the movie?!

Be yourself, going to the cinema is good because it gives you something to start speaking about.

Get to know WHO SHE IS. Enjoy her company, and have fun.

Aw, that sucks man.

Atleast she was honest though and didn't just go anyway, because that would have been really awkward for both of you.

I think Sick Boy is right, it's damn cold, but it was the right thing to do.

I'd say move on, there's no point trying to chase her now.

I'm a give up at the first hurdle guy, but really, there's plenty more fish in the sea.

This thread started out by making me lawl very much. Now it is just wierd... approaching the line of sadness very rapidly.

You will find another girl ir0nic. You seem to be taking it fine but don't get too worked up about it.

Also the guy was just trying to cheer you up man. Chill out. It isn't very romantic defending her over the internet, it is rather pointless.

Your post made me smile real big, because I think it's cute and amazing how honest you are/were about the date. Seriously, when you do go on your first date, I think the girl's gonna be a lucky one.

That sucks, bro. But remember how psyched you were when she said yes? That can happen again, and with a girl who really means it.

Hang in there. The Wheel keeps Turning.

:/ It took a lot of courage to ask this girl. I feel like I can only ask a girl that I feel equal to. And.. there aren't that many. I felt like this girl was for me.. that I wouldn't have to ask another girl out for a LONG time, if ever again. I know it was only wishful thinking, but I'm a picky guy and it's a shitty world.

Whatever, dude. But here's some things to keep in mind:

1) Unless you really are way, WAY down on the bad end of the Beauty Scale, the number one factor in how the world perceives you is how you perceive yourself.

2) At you're age, you're not looking for a wife, are you? Go out with girls because it's fun, don't just wait for the soul-mate lightning bolt.

3) We all get knocked down sometimes, bro. But you gotta get back up.

And I think that's enough sappy wisdom for one night. Lotsa luck, dude.

I hope I don't fucking lose it tomorrow at school. Like I said, I'm not hurt or anything, so I don't expect myself to fuck anything up, but it's always possible.

Night guys. Thanks again. And girls.

What a fucking BITCH man.

She isnt a slut but she is a cow. Seriously! Tell her that you thought she was a really cool person and you were obviously wrong, make her feel like shit.

Dont feel you have to stand up for her, leading folk on is well shit.

Come to think of it she probably went and told her friends and they all took the piss and she backed out, so se is weak and cant make her own decisions in life. You are better off without her.

She seemed really happy today, happier than usual, actually. They might've done that, I don't know. She didn't really text me like she told me she would earlier, when I asked her out, but whatever. My friends tried to do that to me but I told them to fuck off. I still think she's a really cool person and she made me extremely happy this morning. I still want to maintain good relations with her. I see her for 3 hours of the day every day.

Err, I guess it wouldn't make sense to ask if she just didn't want to see a movie. That's what I'd do, but I guess that would be redundant.

Then again, how well do you know her? You could always keep trying to talk to her and give up if it doesn't work. I've heard it said that if someone doesn't like you at first that it sometimes ends up alright if you're persistant. Though my dad has a lot of pretty stupid ideas, so don't neccesarily listen to that.

I had a friend who wanted me, but I wasn't into him...He persisted, and I eventually fell in love with him, at which point he was already over me.

I wholeheartedly agree. Dating is losing its meaning and nobody seems to be willing to take the risk of a long-term relationship. People are backstabbing assholes nowadays and there's pretty much nothing we (the normal, non-assholeish people) can do about it.

a movie date as a first date EW! You shouldn't really take a girl to see a movie on a first date. You should go somewhere where u can talk and get to know eachother better something simple. Movie dates you can't talk all all in the movie it gets awkward. Go out to get green tea or like go for a walk or somthing, or play pool anything but a moive
