Default What places have worked for youin meeting the opposite sex (excluding the following)

So my life is pretty basic. Simple pleasures.

It has revolved around 4 basic things for a long time, with the introduction of a fith just recently:

1. Hanging out at friend's houses watching movies and drinking.

2. In the bush, motorbike riding.

3. At home, on totse

4. In clubs, er...clubbing

5. And now, recently, the gym.

All these activities suck for picking up girls. I'll list my propblems and I would like some help (trying hard to move on).

1. I have a very small, loyal friends circle. My best mate goes to uni, and there are lots of pretty girls in his class. But they're all over achievers, I'm the exact opposite. That and I've already kissed a few of them, and been an ass to the remainders. Kind of rules out close friends circles.

2. The day I pick up a girl while motorbike riding will be the day I try to eat an ironing board.

3. I'm not going to do the whole "lets meet girls online" thing. I did that when I was an emo kid (myspace *shame*), it works, but it's degrading.

4. Every one on totse tells me any girl I pick up in a club isn't a girl I want to be with. I used to always be drug fucked, now I'm either completely and utterly smashed, or sober. If I'm smashed, I'm obnoxious. If I'm sober, I'm very against being with any one more intoxicated than my self. It makes me feel like "I had to hook up with a drunk/rolling chick".

5. All the girls at my gym are fatties trying to get skinny. No skinnies trying to become skinnier.

So...I'm very open to suggestions, where would be a good place to start.

In the past I had school. School is a huge source.

It's only degrading if you try and meet girls online.

True. If it happens accidentally, I'm all open for it.

Get a job at a restaurant. In my restaurant working experience, everyone hangs out and parties after work. You could make decent money, make some new friends AND meet a girl, all in one!

Besides that, umm... pubs, instead of clubs? Girls that hang out at pubs are more of the chillin, beer drinkin, pool playin, non-dramatic type.

How can your gym be full of fatties? The one time I went to the gym all I saw was hot chicks, and some old ladies, but w/e. And from what I hear, most gyms are full of hotties. Find a new gym?

Other than that... I dunno. Take up a new hobby? One that involves lots of ladies? Go jogging in the park or something...

I get pretty discouraged sometimes when I see how difficult it can be to even meet people. If I'm at home over breaks from school, I'm working 8-5 and then doing nothing. I can either eat out, go to an $8.50 per ticket movie, or walk around the mall, which closes at 9. I'll pass on all of those activities.

If I'm in the city where my uni is, I can get coffee 24/7, but the girls there are doing homework or otherwise occupied. The gym has a lot of hot girls, but they're all listening to music or running on a treadmill, or both. I can eat out, go to stores, or random house parties. That's pretty much it. People get to class with ipods or cell phones on, and then when they leave they immediately resume their cell conversations or turn their music on.

That said, I usually meet girls through friends, or somehow they'll find me on myspace or facebook. Sadly I'm a perfectionist and I'll lose interest in people if they aren't up to my standards.

When I was studying in another country last summer I was just confident and friendly, and I made a lot of friends, and started dating a girl that all the guys in my group wanted. I left, and since then I haven't found another quite like her. That's why I'm alone for now.

This was mostly irrelevant, but I needed to vent. Anyway, remember that girls come as floods or droughts: too many at once, or none at all. Just go about your business and be happy that way.

Of course I can. I do the old hook uo routine. But people always tell me that a girl I meet in a club isn't a girl I want to be with.

Aaaalso, it's such a shallow encounter. There's no substance to what's being talked about. If you try it's like

"so...what do...*noise noise noise*"

"WHAT?"

"I said *noise noise noise* you do?"

"What do I do?"

"Fuck this"

I can't hold jobs that don't interest me. I've tried, pretty hard in the past. At the very least, they need to be challenging. Thing is my town has no decent resturaunts.

I do love pubs. A big corporation bought out the only pub in my town to put a discount supermarket there. Fuckers.

My ex loved pubs, she was a drama whore. Nuff said.

I moved from Melb to the country. Where I live is in the top 3 in Australia for both obesity rates and unemployment.

Only other gym in this town is the uni gym (has hotties at it), but you have to be a uni student to use it .

Basically, the common denominator in my problems is this small hell hole of a town.

I probably need to move back to Melbourne.

Arquin, you need to move back to Melbourne. Or anywhere that isn't a little shithole town.

Pub/cool girls thing... majority. Of course some of the psychos like em. You can find a nerdy girl at a club too. I hang out at clubs occasionally too. Except I'm usually "that sober chick making fun of the drunk bitches." Direct quote from a friend. Hah. It's true too...

Try finding a job doing something you really really like. Dunno what you really really like yet? Take some post-secondary courses. Don't wanna do that? Make lists. Lists are good.
