Ok, this is something I've pondered for a number of years now and couldn't ever find the right place to ask it. Since this is Totse, I'm hopeful I'll get some decent replies.

I'm always hearing about how a girl losing her virginity has all these worries, and how it hurts and they are somewhat afraid....blah, blah, blah. Not to mention they are nervous going at it for their first time. Now I've taken 3 different virgins cherries back in the day, so I'm certainly no stranger to any of this.

Here is my question. If the whole initial penetration is such a big deal, then why not break your own hymen BEFORE you have sex for the first time. Considering it is as easy as buying a $10 vibrator at Spencers in the mall, wouldn't that lessen some of the anxiety? Hell, you could even work your way up to it. Start with a hairbrush handle, go to a cigar case, then do the dildo.

Wouldn't that make your real first time that much easier and a whole less awkward? Most girls have sex the first time with someone they really care about (and hopefully returned in kind) so its not like the guy is enjoying hurting you in any way. Plus you wouldn't have the worry of bleeding, where you are bleeding...etc.

Or is there some kind of "emotional attachment" to your hymen, and think it should be broken by someone else?

Help me out here ladies, it just seems to me a few sessions of masturbating with a vibrator would make your eventual first time having a real live dick going in and out of you a much easier and fulfilling/enjoyable experience. Where is my logic flawed in all of this?

I think a large portion of girls' hymens are already broken by the time they have sex. I have no idea whether or not mine was intact when I lost my virginity. It was slightly painful and I bled a tiny bit for a couple days, but the sex was still enjoyable and I think it would have been pointless for me to 'break myself in' before hand...It shouldn't be an issue if the virgin is aroused and relaxed enough.

Lets say my hymen was intact when I lost my virginity? Would I be able to tell exactly when it was broken? It doesn't actually 'pop' does it?

Maybe some girls can't bring themselves to tear their hymens? Just like when you're a kid with a band-aid. You try to rip it off, but it hurts too much and you need your mom to quickly rip it off your skin.

I'm sure there are girls out there who aren't afraid of doing it, but some can't purposely inflict pain on themselves.

I don't know, this is just how I see it.

Agreed that it doesn't really "pop", but I myself did have some problems with the one girl I deflowered and heard of others with similar situations. I even have a friend who married some chick from the Phillipines after a year long online romance. He went over there for a visit, married her in the first week...and the remaining time with her he could NOT penetrate her because of tightness issues. It took over a year for her to get her visa and come live here, and he told me they finally did consumate things.

I get what the other poster said about not self-inflicting oneself with pain, but with all the other emotional and physical worries for a girl's first time....I would still think they would want to get this one aspect of it out of the way.
