Valentines day
Do guys expect presents for valentines day? Just something small? I've never had a bf on valentines day and I don't know what I should be doing. We've been dating about 3 months.
I know some of you will tell me to get whatever I'm comfortable with but if you have a girlfriend, what did she do for you on valentines day??

I'm not really the kind of girl to write love poems or anything though

Re: Valentines day
I was thinking of getting my boyfriend some sort of drug paraphernalia (wtf, since when is there an 'r' in there?), maybe a new bong or pipe. But that would only work if he's a stoner, lol. Does he like videogames? Most boys do...
Edit - it's also pretty standard to just organise a romantic night, like maybe going out for a nice meal.
If he likes it when you bake for him, that's a really good idea too. Maybe make him a really extravagant cake or something.

Yes he's a big video game geek, he just bought a ps3. I wouldnt want to flat out ask him what games he likes though, thats a little obvious, and plus I dont really want to spend 50+ dollars.

Cook him dinner. Then get yourself into sexy knickers and give him a bit of a strip tease.
People don't need 'things'. A romantic evening is always a lovely idea.

Re: Valentines day
Do not, DO NOT buy ANY Chocolate or roses, unless you want to convey the message "I think your like everyone else" instead, do something abstract. Try to surprise them. Something either expensive thats BIG and SHINY, or thats original, like hand picking flowers into a personalized bouque that was difficult for you to make , so it shows hard work and such.
For a guy,
Alchohol,
Victoria's secret,
Or same "personalized hard work" idea.

Re: Valentines day
For one of our first V-Day's, I cut out a red and pink heart from construction paper and attached a picture of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck to the pink one.. then I cut out a strip of pink paper, crinked it up like a spring and glued it to each heart.
So it was like a pop-up heart.. with those two guys on it.
She thought it was funny. :\

I don't give advice like this often. I don't want a bunch of little Euda's running around. If I wanted that, I'd start a school; a eudaemonistic school.

Re: Valentines day
While I'd love to single out every single one of you and point out your idiocy, I don't have the time nor the patience. I'll do you all at once:
Look at me, I'm everybody who's posted in this thread!! I suggest buying boring, cliché gifts that demonstrate absolutely no thought or feeling! Chocolate, flowers, dinner, and a strip tease! How original! I am so, so awesome for getting gifts like this.
Don't be one of them. Use your brain. If a girl ever got me flowers, chocolate, or some stupid love pendent and actually expected me to be grateful, I'd probably dump her on the spot. Put some damn thought into it.
Its the thought that counts. Buying flowers it not thought. Buying flowers is a cop-out. Same goes for every single other gift anyone has suggested. Any gift that someone suggest for a person that they've never met is not a good one. A gift you actually put some thought into, even if it sucks, is a million times better.
I'm an avid skier, and the last gift I got from my girlfriend was a gift certificate to the ski resort I frequent. A ski resort that she had to drive almost 3 hours each way to get to. It was nice getting a gift that actually had some effort and thought behind it.

Re: Valentines day
On Valentines Day as a guy, I gave up on hoping to ever get anything of significant value. Either I got something that was supposed to be touching/sentimental, but I was either just not that that into the girl and just happened to be with her on Val day. Or I got something completely useless and had no sentimental value what-so-ever from a girl I was crazy about, and then got a look of disappointment from her when I gave her something useless, but extremely sentimental.
I just started buying her lingerie because in the end she liked it (and yes she actually did because she was into that sort of thing) and it always worked out well for me in the end.
I realise I never answered your question. Sorry, but I say get him something that you know he will like. Key word there, "KNOW" he will like. Just to be safe. Next year if you 2 are still together then go for something special.

Re: Valentines day
Brady, I think you're being way too pretentious. Even though it's a cliche, I would love for my boyfriend to take me out for a nice meal, and he would love it if I gave him a striptease.
I guess the point I'm making is that if your girlie likes flowers, then there's nothing wrong with getting her flowers.

I've got a Battle of the Bands to play, so I'm hoping that our band will win that, get shitty and then get laid. That would be a sufficient substitute for a present.

This plan fails because of the total inability for most people to find a decent movie.
Valentines day is all about the girlies. The guys get it back on steak and BJ day. (http://www.steakandbjday.com/)

Re: Valentines day
Its time for you females to realize what you truly are. Your boy wants to hit that shit. That little kinky thing hes been hinting at, thats what he wants for valentines day. What the fuck do you think the romantic dinners, the love cards, the sappy songs, are for? Because at the end of the night, he knows he will be ball deep inside of you.
Its that easy. make the sex kinky and fun for valentines day. unless of course the type of girl that does that naturally, otherwise known as "keepers". Make it your mission to please him. You do all the work.
