Default From Friend to Enemy in Just One Night...

It just always seems like everyone's out to fuck me over, whether intentionally or not. It's getting to be too much to handle.

The reason I'm putting this here, is because it usually has to do with some chick. That's my one weakness. I'm always obsessed with someone, at any given moment. It all started in around grade 5, with this Jewish girl who I had an obsessive crush on for over 5 years. Then I met this other girl and it was her for nearly another 5. And then from then until now, it's been this other girl.

I can handle it when I don't see her, but tonight, I ran into her, and out of instinct and intoxication, I invited her out to the bar I was going to with a "friend" (despite the fact that I have strict rules against mixing "friends" and girls I like).

Well, she eventually showed up, but I had no money, and neither did my "friend", nor did she. But her friends ended up buying rounds of drinks (it was cheap night anyway). The girl (named Amanda) was giving me drinks, but my annoying "friend" was at the end of the table sulking, so obviously she felt bad for him and gave him a drink for every one that I got.

The ungrateful son of a bitch started ASKING for drinks (from someone who was generous enough to offer some for free).

Then later on, even though he KNOWS that I like her, he goes and sits next to her. That pissed me off enough as it was, but then he went and put his arm around her when talked to her next...

That was strike two, but not quite enough to push me all the way over the edge, since I tend to do that too when I'm talking to a girl at a bar, so I gave him the benefit of the doubt.

Then, as she goes off to dance with her female friend, my "friend" follows suit. As I'm watching them on the dance floor, that is when I mark strike 3 in my mind. At that point, he's no longer a friend, or even an acquaintance, he's an enemy. I start thinking of ways to get back at him. Maybe fucking his girlfriend who's about to dump him (LOL, I fucking hope she at least follows through with that, at least SOME Karmic Retribution will be delivered).

So when he gets back, he can tell that I'm pissed, and he asks me what's wrong. I just tell him that he's failed the "ultimate test", and that I hate him. He tries to make amends by saying to Amanda "hey, you should dump your boyfriend for Darren" (YEAH, REAL SMOOTH BUDDY!). I take off one of the strikes though for the effort. He's kind of a dumbass, so maybe he actually meant to help me out.

But then he grabs her beer and "asks" for a sip as he takes some anyway (before getting a response).

At this point, I just leave the bar. I had to catch a bus anyway, and he knew this, but he calls me later from another number asking why I "ditched him". I told him that I had to catch a bus. Then he asks for Amanda's number. I just said "NO!" and hung up.

Last time I talk to him. Fuck.

The only reason you'd forgive him is that it's smart to keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

Like a dog that bites a child or a cheating woman, you can rely on them to be unrelyable.

Meh, if she's got a boyfriend anyway, what exactly is the problem, considering she's um, not available and all?

You shoulod have pulled him aside at some point during the night, just to talk to him and what not, it seems he probably would have understood.

I think setting fire to him would have been more enjoyable though.

I was going to say "yeah, I'm paranoid too", but after reading this story I think you're right. Hang in there... people suck, but there are some awesome ones.

Well, he didn't know that to begin with.

Plus, the way she acts doesn't really give off the vibe that she has a boyfriend. She's very flirtatious.

Actually, I've always felt kinda bad for her boyfriend after seeing some of the stuff she does. I mean, she hasn't full-out cheated on him as far as I know, but she really does push the boundaries pretty far.

Although she did make out with me once while she was with her boyfriend, but then she broke up with him. Then we had a bit of a thing going on, until she went back to him.

Anyone with any sense of awareness as to what's going on around them should have been able to figure it out. Especially after I spent the whole night with her, then suddenly he goes and kinda butts in and tries hitting on her.

Although, as EssJay suggested, maybe I should have straight up told him.

In fact, I might be being a bit harsh on him. He really isn't the brightest guy at times, so he's one of the few people who can maybe get away with something like this once, and actually play the naivety/stupid card.

1) You are an asshole, apparently.

2) I'm pretty sure that when she broke up with her boyfriend for me and gave me a handjob, I was at least slightly outside of the friend zone.

3) I don't care if I'm in her "friend zone" anyway, I actually like having her as a friend. Besides, it's not like she's all I think about. I have dated and slept with many girls since I started liking her. We can't win them all, can we?

4) He would never have gotten with her anyway. She was flirting with everyone that night because she was extremely drunk.

1. Ive been called much worse

2. So far outside the friend zone she ran straight back to boyfriend?

3. Pick up a dictionary and give me the definition for obsession please

4. More reason that im amazed your pissed. She flirts with everyone, has been established as a cheater, and "pushes the boundaries" with guys all the time at bars. Whats so special about her, ill walk outside, spin around in a circle, stop when you tell me, and be able to point to a female just like her.

Grow up guy.

I never said that I was completely outside of the "friend zone" at any point.

quote:Originally posted by whiteass:

I wasn't denying that I may have an obsession with her. But is that really something I can help? Why would someone who's supposed to be a friend go and make that worse? There are so many other girls out there, that there's no need for him (or any friend of mine for that matter) to hit on her. If anything, a friend should be supportive and at the very least avoid her. I'm not even going to get into the whole matter of principle at hand as well.

I don't get as pissed off when she flirts with other guys that I don't know. It's the fact that my supposed friend went and hit on her, when he should have obviously been able to tell that I liked her.

This whole thread is about a friendship, and not about this girl in particular, in case that's what you're assuming it's about.

and my point is why ruin a friendship over something so trivial. It may not seem trivial because of your obsession, but if your weigh the facts over the feelings, its just not worth it.

Yeah I kinda realize now that I might have been a bit harsh on him.

But I dunno, he can be pretty annoying at times, in other aspects than just this particular night, so it's not like he was treading in best-friend territory to begin with.

Maybe considering him an enemy is a bit of a stretch, but I don't know if I really care to keep him around as a close friend. Last night kinda just sealed the deal on that.

It revealed a particular character trait that could be potentially harmful to a friendship down the road.

Like I said, I can be irrationally paranoid at times, but what I'm mainly trying to do is prevent certain things that have happened to me in the past from happening again.

If I can get to know a person's behavioral patterns early on, then I can adjust my friendship with them accordingly.

C'mon D, you're taking things out of context because you feel belittled by your amigo.

She's in a relationship, he wasnt fully aware that you had your eye on her... and obviously he liked her!

If one of my mates told me that there was a girl with us that they wanted, and she seemed to be getting on better with me than him, I wouldn't think twice about hitting it. Fuck unwritten rules, this is life... Now, if a mate directly asked me not to hit on a certain girl, I wouldnt think of it. You didn't do this, though.

Theres no point in fucking up a friendship for a potential fuck. Even if she's occupying your brain as of late, she's still a girl who isnt exactly faithful. Girlfriend material? Unlikely...

Quite clearly you've managed to prove that your jealous streak is far more harmful to a friendship.

Do I remember correctly that you once broke off a friendship with someone because they started dating your ex-girlfriend?

I've had friends do that to me in the past.

Karma always, always comes back for them.

Don't worry, stop being upset, forgive the fucktard for being a prick. And sit back and wait for his turn to come.

I'm not saying to be his friend, I'm saying that forgiving him is better for you mentally than hating him forever. He'll see how it feels one day.

True friends don't do that, though. And I agree with you 100 percent.

That's highly debatable. It's not like he was actually, genuinely interested in her. I mean, every guy hits on her, it doesn't mean they all really like her that much.

Plus, when he ended up calling me later, he was like "So do you hang out with those girls often?" Me: "Not really" Him: "Ohh, cuz I gave them both my number, but they seemed like harsh sluts anyway, whatever"

Oh, and he has a girlfriend anyway. So it's not like he's in any position to be seeking out a new girl.

Yeah, but it's not like he was exactly the best of friends to begin with. Actually, I straight up hated him anyway before I even knew anything about them being together.

I guess I'm not really talking about true friends here, more just acquaintances or casual friends.

He could have hit on any other girl there if he wanted, but he went straight for the one that he knew I liked.

Plus, like I said earlier, he was pissing me off in other ways anyway.

Why do you put up with fuckwits like that?

He obviously has no idea what he's doing, so why even bother introducing him to girls?

I have a friend - everytime he talks to a girl it's like the rest of his mind flips off and fuckwit mode turns on. He has no clue. Doesn't think about anything in this mode.

Oh and maybe you should give up on that girl you like. I mean if she ditches u to dance with him she isn't really interested.
